Summary

A young woman, out jogging in the woods, finds a body.

Eleanor Blackwood discovers a woman's body in the same spot in the woods where her mother was strangled eighteen years previously. But before the police can get there, the body vanishes.

Is Eleanor's disturbed mind playing tricks on her again, or has her mother's killer resurfaced? And what does the number on the dead woman's forehead signify?

An interesting, convoluted story.

The story seems to revolve around an eighteen year old, unsolved murder. The main character, Eleanor Blackwood, discovers a body, with a number 3 written on it, in the same spot where her mother was strangled eighteen years before. As.she goes for help, the body disappears and no-one believes her.

Then she finds body number 2!

Although I tried, I could not get over the feeling that Eleanor needs to grow up and get on with her life.

Boring and Dull

Could have been better with less repetitive detail. Dragged on and on. I also found the narration irritating. Cringed every time.some of the characters opened their mouths. Wouldn’t rush to read another of Jane Holland’s books.

poor

The narrator was appalling in my opinion. She made the female characters sound like children and the male characters all sounded the same. I wouldn't recommend this book, very disappointed.

Engrossing

Enjoyed the storyline, sussed who the killer was earlier in the book. Was hoping to have kept me guessing a bit longer than it did

Good story

This book has a good story line but I felt something was off throughout. The characters were not believable and I spent much of the time thinking somehow I had missed something. Perhaps because the author kept alluding to things and then didn't follow it through. Nevertheless, apart from the poor accents, (Ellie's father sounded like a brummie) i quite enjoyed it

Fairly transparent and comical narration at times

The story lacked any major twists or turns and it was fairly obvious from very early one that the killer would be one of two people. The author laid it on so thick with one it had to be the other. Any suggestions of others perhaps being involved seemed like an after thought.
The narration involves very strong Cornish accents which are at times ridiculous. The police inspector’s voice made me laugh out loud because it was so silly. Narrator often forgot whose character she was playing and got the wrong one.
Fairly dull but ultimately easy listening book. Narration did no favours to the book on this one.

Meh!

Would you try another book written by Jane Holland or narrated by Anna Parker-Naples?

Maybe, but definitely not the narrator

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The story line would have been ok I think ...

Would you be willing to try another one of Anna Parker-Naples’s performances?

no

If this book were a film would you go see it?

probably not as I don't usually go to the cinema

Any additional comments?

I skipped the last 10 chapters jumped straight to epilogue because I couldn't stand the narrators voice any longer.

Very gripping read

Disliked the accent at first but story that good you get used to it after a while.
Twists & shocks and guessing who done it throughout.
