Summary

Not all that glitters is gold

I thought I was a goner after my old frenemy Odin dropped a Ragnarok-sized truth bomb on me at an Asgard Awakening (terrible show - don't watch it) fan convention, but the situation is contained for now, and I'm heading west to search for the runes that make me immortal. Dying is counterproductive, and I, the great god Loki, enjoy living in the twenty-first century, even if I have to do it in a body that prefers men over women. What can I say? Gunnar Magnusson is, as the cool Midgardian kids say, hot AF. We all make sacrifices.

But the unscheduled appearance of a foul-mouthed gangster hummingbird could pull the pin on Odin's ticking bomb and expose secrets that would not only destroy the first true friendships I've forged in centuries but also kill any chance of finding my runes.

Nestled within a golden kingdom called Las Vegas, the mysterious, gilded Nine Realms Resort and Casino is my only lead. It could also prove the biggest gamble of my life.

Pass the poker chips. Your favorite gender-bending trickster is going all in.

Book two in the Asgard Awakening urban fantasy comedy series

So so funny

This book is so funny. I was literally laughing out loud pretty much all the way through. Kendall completely captures the confusion of Loki’s mind being in a different time. With fantastic narration from Natalie and Kendall’s excellent words it is a combination to be feared by others authors.

Not what I expected

I gave this book a try, after reading the blurb, have to say although amusing in places, it was not for me. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Highly Recommend! (but begin with book 1)

I loved book 1, and this follow-up was just as AWESOME!
This book brilliantly balances lighthearted fun with touching moments and hilarious laugh-out-loud scenes.
I enjoyed it so much!

The Author does an amazing job of making Loki likable, despite all of her flaws (which are quite a few, haha)
You really get to care about her, her friends and sidekicks, and that’s such an important thing if you want to enjoy any story I think.
The character building is very good. I liked the dreams Loki has about her old life, and how she looks at her own behavior back then through human/ female eyes.

The narration is excellent, and I’m so grateful for it.
Character voices/distinction, pacing, intonation and relaying of emotions and humor are all spot on.
Narration can make or break an Audio Book, and Natalie definitely makes Asgard Awakening shine.

This is not a stand-alone story, I would highly recommend you check out book 1 first.

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.
Opinions and ratings are my own and not influenced by how I got the Audio Book.

This series is so entertaining and funny. It’s such a neat twist on Norse mythology. I can’t wait for the next book!

Natalie Duke shines as Loki

I didn't read this book, I EXPERIENCED it! I don't know if the written book would be as good as the audio, but the narrator is killing it! She/He/They IS Loki! And I'm here for the adventures in Vegas.
I LOVE the way Kendall Grey is taking these Gods and Goddesses and making them her own. We get them all on her terms and it's all about awakening who they are, no matter what sex they identify with. It's like taking the past and mixing it with present and having this amazing, messed up journey to find the ruins that Loki is looking for.
Book 2 is a continuation of book 1. I can't wait to see what kind of trouble Loki, Gunnar, Freddie, Huggin and crew will get to experience next. :)
Original, fun and witty and a TOTAL audio experience!
