Good book... weird voice

I liked the book a lot of interesting points. Simple and straightforward. The voice of the person was really annoying... still listened to the end though. Don't expect mellow speech that you could fall asleep to!

Very Helpful

I chose this rating because the book so far has been very helpful. I was unsure of how to handle my teenagers emotions and truly thought something was wrong, such as being bipolar or depressed, however this audio book is very helpful. It has given me suggestions that I as a parent would not have thought of.

Must for parents with gifted kids

Even when I am an avid reader of topics related to gifted kids, I hadn't found one that touched the emotional area of this kids with so much detail and information. Good suggestions and ideas on how to handle your kid, and also differentiates girls from boys. Highly recommended!

I am so amazed

I love the small school that my children attend, but we don't have a GATE program. As a result, I know very little about what it means to be gifted. It would have been really helpful information, especially since it turns out I may have a gifted child in my house.

It makes sense now

Even as a toddler it was obvious that my child was different than other children. I searched numerous books on parenting, looking for answers. I read about ADHD, autism and indigos, trying to figure out how to be a better parent, sensitive to this child's needs. But none of the scenarios or definitions fit what we were experiencing until I listened to this book. Finally, this makes sense. This is what I've been looking for.

Ok content, very poorly edited

This book is short, but has reasonably helpful, albeit, high-level guidance. Unfortunately, it suffers from jarringly poor grammar and syntax.

The narration is terrible.

Not sure if all the obvious grammar mistakes are the fault of the narrator or author. Very distracting and discrediting.

Okay

Sorry, but I can only read this as OK. Although the author describes having gifted family members, and her message is helpful, I wish her editor had been better. The English used is sometimes incorrect, as though perhaps English is her second language. The reason it matters is because I was distracted by it. The editor didn’t do her any favors.

Awful on every level. Truly.

First off, I had to keep increasing the narration speed. I ended up on 2X and still, the words were coming too slow. The content here is below the level of a high school English paper. No research situations, it even anecdotal research. I have 3 wonderful and difficult gifted children, including being one myself. I wouldn't even call this a book. Utter waste of time. Cute and attractive cover, I will give it that.

You need this.

Your child is the smart one, the one who gets bored in school or refuses to do homework, the one who is bullied or has difficulty making friends. Your child has a heart the size of Mount Rushmore, and can inexplicably grasp concepts and emotions that should be impossible for him or her to understand. Listen to this audio book and you will know what to do.
