A spellbinding novel of romantic obsession.

Vernon Deyre is a sensitive and brilliant musician, even a genius. But there is a high price to be paid for his talent, especially by his family and the two women in his life. His sheltered childhood in the home he loves has not prepared Vernon for the harsh reality of his adult years, and in order to write the great masterpiece of his life, he has to make a crucial decision with no time left to count the cost…

Famous for her ingenious crime books and plays, Agatha Christie also wrote about crimes of the heart, six bittersweet and very personal novels, as compelling and memorable as the best of her work.

'A satisfying novel.' New York Times

'When Miss Westmacott reaches the world of music, her book suddenly comes alive. The chapters in which Jane appears are worth the rest of the book put together.' New Statesman

Intriguing departure from Agatha’s beloved crime novels but most enjoyable and thought producing. Really couldn’t put this down. Proves her remarkable intelligence and creativity

Not a bad listen but far from Agatha Christie’s best. I’d recommend it as a curio though.

Unfortunately the reader, George Coke! Sounded as if he was having trouble with his false teeth which distracted my concentration on the actual story.

I will probable bug the book in kindle or printed format and read for myself as I am a great Agatha Christie fan.

Could not hold my interest

I love this book.. it takes you to a whole other era but the emotions are fresh and the characters will stay with you..its not my favourite Westamcott but its still a must have for my money. Geogre Cole does a great job with the narration.

Magical Book

The narration of this made it impossible for me to carry on listening. The sloppy mouth noises at the end of sentences😩 I really like this actor too, perhaps it's poor sound/production? Anyway, I didn't get far into the story.
