Story
Fran finds her standing by the swings. A little girl, Esther, no older than seven years old, by herself in the dead of night, her pretty but old-fashioned yellow dress covered in grass stains and her hair dishevelled. She says she's waiting for Father, and that strikes Fran as particularly odd. After Esther is reunited with her family, Fran can't stop thinking about this pious child whose imaginary friend is God. Fran's instincts tell her something is very wrong. Why does Esther keep running away from home, and how did she get that bruise on her leg?

Story
Ava only left her daughter in the pushchair for five minutes. The buckle was fastened, and she was sure it was safe. But when she came downstairs, the door was open and Abi was gone - she walked down the road, past the Lovegoods' house, and was never seen again. A year later, the Lovegoods throw a housewarming party, showing off the results of their renovation. Ava doesn’t want to go. She can’t bear to look down that end of the road, to see the place where Abi vanished, and she doesn’t want to spend time with people who don’t share her grief.

You're not who you say you are. Neither is she. She thinks she knows me. She believes my marriage is falling apart at the seams, that my husband can barely look me in the eyes. She thinks I’m desperate for a baby, that my longing for a family keeps me up at night. As much as I hate to admit it, all of this is true. She thinks I listen to her advice, that I care about her opinion. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Because she has no idea who I am. She has no clue that I know everything. I know her secret. Summary
Ghosted - an emotional, addictive pause-resister from the best-selling author of Derelict and Charcoal.
Violet and Zoe are best friends, joined at the hip...until Zoe vanishes.
Meanwhile Violet struggles to juggle a new relationship and a demanding job as a midwife, where she meets a mum-to-be who faces her own unexpected challenges.
Who can Violet turn to? Who can help her to find out what lies behind Zoe’s mysterious disappearance? This is a story with twists and turns. A story of friendship. A story of trust.
Violet has been through more than her share of bad relationships. She’s worked hard to land her dream job as a midwife. Her best friend Zoe has been with her through thick and thin.
Zoe seems to have it all. She loves her job as a teacher. She’s petite and gorgeous and she is married to Luke, who is dependable, attractive and pretty much perfect.
Things start to unravel when Zoe suddenly vanishes, exactly when Violet needs her most....
Violet meets a mum-to-be who is facing catastrophe and chaos. How will Violet cope without Zoe? Who can help her to find out what has happened to her best friend?
This story contains suspense, drama, tension and a friendship between two characters that listeners will root for every step of the way. Chick lit, with a twist of suspense.
All that and a smattering of medical drama too...what more could you want for your next listen of 2020?

Okay ...
I got a free copy of this audiobook and was asked to write an honest review. The description of the books sounded so much better than the story itself. I was honestly hoping for the story to go in a different direction, but in the end it was okay. I do think that Janet did a great job with telling the story. I guess I just hoped it would have been more of a mystery or at least more suspenseful but it just didn't.

Weird Mix of Chick Lit and Thriller
This book’s cover makes you think of Chick Lit. The blurb of Thriller. Well, it wasn’t really one or the other but a weirdly meh mix of both. I could see this being some kind of naïve telling of a bad thing like we were seeing everything from the main character point of view. But I think this would have been to be much darker in reality for this to actually work and be understood as such. Was this what even was trying to be achieved but failed? I’m not even sure. The main character was not for me (I rolled my eyes at her too many times to count) and the all thing was really underwhelming. I did enjoy the midwife life part of the story but it wasn’t supposed to be the main story so... Maybe this was just a really bad fit between book and reader? I received a copy of this book from the author

Mesmerising
I am thrilled to have chosen Ghosted as my first experience of Audible. Violet the protagonist has been my companion as I have run the Couch to 5k and both Rowney’s writing and Janet Coulson’s performance kept me fully engrossed and motivated throughout. A quietly empowering piece of storytelling for our times. Highly recommended.

Pretty good
When I first read the title I thought the book would be about a couple where instead of the girl getting ghosted by her boyfriend it was the other way around. Turns out that is not the case with this book, I did read the description before asking for a review copy, which I am very thankful to have been able to get. This book is about a couple of friends who have been together for a lot of their life. They are very close but Violet and Zoe lose touch with each other by means I will not reveal since that would give some of the main plotline away. It was an ok book, it didn't draw me into the story as much as I thought it would, but was still a pretty good book. I will say with this narrator it did a great job with the voices and helping you visualize things better.

Ghosted
I was a little let down with the story. 2 best friends get some outside interference and stop communicating. This is the basis of the story. Technically they did ghost one another, but this is not what I personally consider ghosted since its more of a term for a couple not friends. The story did have some interesting parts and they worked it all out in the end. The narration is nice and actually what kept me going.

A Shorter yet Deeper book
The BFFs have been through a lot in their young adult lives and have always stuck with each other. The storylines run the gamut of various relationships, careers, insecurities and getting “ghosted”. The Narration is excellent, every character is clear, distinctive and unique. Resolutions for these characters come in a surprising fashion. I really liked this book a lot. **I was given a free copy of this book in lieu of an honest review

Basically a Story about a insecure woman
I did not find the story much more then the ramblings of a insecure woman who for a time loses her best friend. Narrator did a good job with the voices. I do not recommend this depressing petty much onesided story.

I definitely recommend!
I have to admit, Ghosted was not what I expected. After reading the blurb, I was ready to delve into a mystery novel about a girl whose best friend suddenly vanishes. I already started speculating in my mind: was she murdered? Kidnapped? Is there some big conspiracy going on? I was so wrong on so many levels… And to be honest, I’m glad I was! I don’t remember the last time I read such a light book with such a deep plot. Ghosted has the style of a great chic-lit but underneath the surface, there’s so much more: mental health disorders, different levels of emotional abuse, and the list goes on. The story is about the friendship of Violet and Zoe, two twenty-something adults on their ways to self-discovery. Violet chose the demanding but at the same time fulfilling career of a midwife, and the book gives us a peek into her busy days at the maternity ward and the challenges she has to face in her fascinating and beautiful profession. Meanwhile, she’s trying to escape an abusive relationship, throwing herself back into the dating pool right away before she could have time to heal. However, when her best friend disappears from her life, she has to find out what has really been happening around her all this time. I’ve always had a soft spot for books dealing with mental health issues, but I didn’t expect the story to pull me in within a matter of pages. I found the main character relatable from the very first scene, Rowney introduces her motivations and thought so elegantly that you can’t help but sympathize with her even in her darkest moments. If I had to pick one thing I loved most about the book, that’s Rowney’s writing style. Her characters are multilayered, and her descriptions are detailed but never dull. The twist at the end was not as Earth-shattering as I first thought it would be, but still, I felt satisfied with the ending and immediately signed up for a copy of the upcoming prequel. I’ve probably become way too invested in the characters; I can’t wait to find out more about their lives and how they had grown to be the girls I got to know and love in Ghosted. It's definitely worth a read! An extra note: I think the performer was the perfect choice for this story, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her!

Good read
Interesting read. Zoe and Violet have been best friends for years. Zoe is, by all appearances, happily married and has a job she loves as a teacher, while Violet goes from one abusive relationship to another, works a demanding job as a midwife, and in the purchase, she is ghosted by her best friend for no apparent reason...at first. Why and what's really going on? Find out in Ghosted.

Violet's relationship struggles.
This story is about a strong friendship. This story is about emotional abuse. This story is about being a midwife. And all the feels and emotions that goes along with these aspects of Violet's life. It is very deep and well told. I enjoyed it as I, too, am in the medical field. The Audible version that I listened too was performed very well. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from Story Origin.

A well-written & enjoyable medical drama
Ghosted, my first read from author J.E. Rowney. Enjoyable medical drama/women's friendship. 5-hours 7-minutes and 243 pages, but reads longer with the twists, turns & detail written into it. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Narrator Janet Coulson's narration adds to the book's enjoyment. I look forward to reading more from this author. A bit Anticlimactic
Content: Strong Language, sexual conversation I actually related more than expected to parts of this. I also recognized the signs from the beginning. I feel awful that some people don't. That said, I feel there was a big build up for something anti-climactic. I also don't see any one with that type of actions just letting things go so easily. It just seemed too simple an ending.
