Summary

When a reclusive psychic shows up looking for Jude Byrne in his adopted hometown of Salem, Massachusetts, the private investigator’s walls go up instantly. Psychic or not, this mysterious man knows secrets about Jude’s past that are better left buried in the New Mexico desert. Stranger still is the personality change that comes over the flirty PI after he meets the newcomer.

Psychic Copeland Forbes is a man on the edge. The once popular and well-respected medium has lived in seclusion since an attack by a former student has shaken his confidence in his abilities. Sickened by an ailment no doctor can diagnose, he travels from his home in Louisiana to seek out the one man he believes he can help him, if the rumors are true.

Faced with an enemy possessing powers greater than either man has ever faced alone, will Jude and Copeland decide to work together to defeat this dark magick? Or will both men continue on as they are now, ghosts of themselves?

Another great series to follow!

This is a standalone spin-off from the excellent Cold Case Psychic (CCP) series. However, for the best enjoyment, they probably should be read/listened to.
Jude appeared in one of the later CCP books, so it's nice to see he has his own storyline. Cope has come up from New Orleans, really ill and seeking help. Jude and Cope's relationship is a bit of a slow burn, but interesting to watch develop.
One thing that I found a bit tiresome is that almost everyone from the CCP appears in this story, while not bad, I wanted the story to be a bit of a hand-off from the 'parent story.
Michael Pauley does a really good job as usual. There were a few times I wasn't sure which of the secondary characters had the mic, but then, there were quite a few people to characterise :)

Jude and Cope get their story!

So it’s not necessary to have read or listened to the Cold Case Psychics series to enjoy this one - but it will add something if you have!

It’s a slow burn - which I love because it just gives the lead in for a whole slew of books with Cope and Jude (and the more the merrier!).

Michael Pauley’s narration is on point as always!

Fantastic and funny

I absolutely loved this audiobook! I enjoy all the characters in the Cold Case Psychic and related series. Besides having an intriguing mystery and endearing characters, the repartee between the various characters, especially Jude and Ronan, is hilariously entertaining. I loved Jude and Copeland and the immediate connection between them from the start. I would have enjoyed this audiobooks for the interactions alone, even without a good story, magic, and mystery.

The narration by Michael Pauley is great, although there were some occasions when I could not understand a word here or there. It could have been due to trying to effect the Cajun accent. Good pace and delivery overall.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily left this honest review.

It’s Jude’s Turn

This is the first book in The Haunted Souls Series. A spellbinding book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters intriguing. The characters were developed and thought out. Copeland Forbes and Jude Byrne are the MC’s of this book. I enjoyed finally learning more about Jude. The narration was good there were different voices for the characters, and it wasn’t monotone. I can recommend this as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

LOVED IT

Ooh, a Cold Case Psychic spin off series, what's not to like. Getting to know Jude better and learning his secrets, meeting Cope and still spending time with all our favourite people, how intriguing. And finally getting to meet someone 'face to face' is an extra special surprise. This book is bloomin' marvellous and I loved every single minute of it. Things that go bump in the night, found family, sexy times and true love and the gloriously sexy voice of Michael Pauley - I'm in.

Amazing new series

I didn't read this story before listening to it, so I was happily surprised and captivated by the story of Jude and Coppeland.

This was an amazing and thrilling story that I couldn't stop listening to.

The story line was amazing and different, but still very connected to Tennyson and Ronan's universe.

The narration helped give even more depth to Jude and Coppeland, I loved what is starting between them and I can't wait for more

I love the world and characters Pandora's created!

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4.5 stars
🔥🔥 Heat Level: 2 (Story is insta-love/super slow burn, emotional connection established  first)
🎧🎧🎧🎧 Narration: 4.5

I love the world and characters Pandora's created!!

The world Pandora has created is extensive, challenging, often dangerous and wonderful. Everything you could imagine seems to be possible here and I love that she's expanding on the supernatural elements with witches, witchcraft and Native American culture and healings.

I loved Jude in the other books and was so excited for his story. I love Pandora's writing and the Cold Case Series is one of my all time favorites. To be honest and say I wanted a bit more from Jude and Cope's story, but I understand and am intrigued by the way Pandora chose to go with these two.

From my reading, I felt there was a bit of an insta-love connection for Cope towards Jude but Jude has his walls up. Jude can still feel the connection but is more wary of it. This insta-love was good but conflicting at times with a lot of simmering heat that doesn't really progress much of the time. Jude and Cope are drawn to each other quickly and Jude becomes wonderfully protective towards Cope which is great to 'see' and provides for much of Pandora's wonderful humor!! As these two, face the various challenges coming at them more of Jude's past is revealed and his walls finally start to come down. When Bertha is reincarnated there was not a dry eye in the book (or out of it) I was balling! This was such a wonderful part of the book, it truly touched my heart and will stay with me forever.

I love that Pandora included all the characters from the whole Cold Case Psychic world in this story and I loved 'seeing' the continued bromance/brotherhood evolve between Jude and Roman.

This story is very much a start to Jude and Copeland's journey and sort of ends with them together but not. Pandora has done a wonderful set up for many more Jude and Cope stories and I look forward to seeing where they go and what is next for them.

Thanks for reading!

When a Rajun’ Cajun’ meets a mystic healing man

When a Rajun’ Cajun’ meets a mystic healing man (an audio review)

Copeland Forbes is a man with a problem. After an attack by a former student and lover, he’s been hiding out, keeping a low profile. In other words, not using his psychic ability. When his health takes a turn for the worse and no medical professional can help, he heads to Salem Massachusetts to find the one man he’s been led to believe will help.

Jude Byrne is surprised when a gaunt man turns up in a rainstorm saying his name. He has abilities he hasn’t shared with his friends, but they soon learn what he can do when he helps the stranger. Together Jude and Copeland have to find out what’s making Copeland sick before it’s too late.

I liked this book. It is clearly a spin off of a series and those who enjoyed the previous one will love the chance to visit old friends. If, like me, you haven’t been in this world before, no worries. I was never lost and able to keep up. The relationship between the two men was nice. I loved Copeland’s attitude and Jude’s protectiveness.

The book is narrated by Michael Pauley whom I adore. His Cajun accent was really good and I liked how he handled all the male characters. He also did well with Bertha so that was worth something as well. Overall I can recommend this book.

Good story with nice narration by Michael Pauley

I have listened to the Cold Case Psychic series with narration by Michael Pauley and listening to him with this new series feels like all the characters have come home.

Copeland Forbes loves New Orleans. He’s a psychic and a witch with a thriving business and friends that he loves. When he’s attacked by a student/lover he leaves his home. Hiding out for two years until he becomes ill and has to seek out Jude Byrne for help. He collapses on Tenn and Ronan’s doorstep.

Jude knows something had changed the minute he laid eyes on Cope. He reveals part of his secrets to help the the almost comatose Cope. They have to learn to trust each other to save Cope.

I enjoyed getting to know more about Jude. I’ve wanted to know his secrets since he was first introduced. Cope was an interesting character too. Very invested in his city of New Orleans, it was easy to feel his pain at being forced to leave.

I liked the slow burn of the story. The characters (as with all the author creates) were well rounded and felt familiar very quickly.

The banter between Jude and Ronan is similar to siblings, so sometimes it’s very annoying. This is a spin-off of the Cold Case Psychic series and I think those books really need to be read to have a full understanding of this one.

Magic, mystery, intrigue and so much more. What a delightful listen!!!

I have been impatiently waiting for more insight and understanding about Jude and this book exceeded my expectations. The writing was terrific and the story-line kept me glued to my audible app all day. What a delightful narration!!!

Jude and Cope are developing a very special connection, one that is a real slow burn. i am looking forward to these guys really connecting and finding themselves with each other. i also loved that we got to see all of the special characters that we have grown to love from the Cold Case Psychic series.

This is the first book in this new spin-off series Haunted Souls and i cannot wait for the next one!!

I loved this audio

I had previously read the book and it was great. Listening to the narration after having read the book brought a wonderful new dimension to the story. Michael Pauley's characterization of the players was superb. I enjoyed to the story to begin with, but I truly loved it after listening to Pauley's wonderful interpretation of the characters. Don't miss this one.

Cross Country Networking

New Orleans psychic Copeland seeks out help from Salem ghost hunter Jude when he is unable to keep himself safe.

The story is busy, and filled with action and angst. Cope has a stalker that threatens his life... long distance. The Salem psychics band together to find the stalker and stop his attacks on Cope. It takes all of the group's skills to help their new friend.

Narrator Michael Pauley/Dean had quite the challenge with the various regional dialects from New Orleans, Louisiana to Salem, Massachusetts. Not only were the accents different, but each character had their own tone and cadence. Fun to listen to.
