Chloe Marin was lucky. She was just a teenager when a party at a Florida beachside mansion turned into a savage killing spree and she was one of the few to survive. Bloody handwriting on the walls pointed to a cult whose rituals included human sacrifice. Chloe’s sketch of one of the killers linked two dead cult members found in the Everglades to the massacre, closing the case as far as the cops are concerned.

Summary
Reclusive collector Cutter Merlin is seldom seen in Key West - lately, not at all. Officer Liam Beckett visits Merlin’s curious house and discovers the gentleman in his study. In his death grip: a volume of occult lore and a reliquary. His eyes are wide with fright, his mouth a horrified rictus where spiders now dwell.
Kelsey Donovan returns to the old house to catalog her estranged grandfather’s collection of artifacts and antiquities, vowing to see his treasures divested properly. But she cannot ignore the sense that she’s being watched, the reports of malevolent black figures, the pervasive smell of death.
Is the Merlin house haunted, even cursed? Liam knows well that some ghost stories are true and he swears to protect Kelsey. But there are forces at work for whom one more life is a pittance to pay for their deepest desire.…

So Sad to See a Good Triology End
Would you listen to Ghost Moon again? Why?
Yes, as a matter of fact, I've listened to it a couple of times. Interruptions while listening to books on tape often make me miss something relevant to the story plot, especially with cozy mysteries, etc. So the second listen was even more enjoyable (and answered many questions running around in my head)! The third listen was purely pleasurable and made me anxiously await my "credit day" so that I could buy books one and two of the series to listen to them.
What other book might you compare Ghost Moon to and why?
The outstanding feature of this book is that it takes place in Key West. I've not visited this region of our nation so I am visiting through the words of the author to see the sites and sounds of the islands. I listened to a book entitled Flashback by Nevada Barr that takes place about 70 miles away from the Keys. The most they have in common is that they are both mysteries with historical overtones.
What about Angela Dawe’s performance did you like?
The fact that I became so emersed in the story that I forgot I was listening to a narration of the story is the best compliment I can give Ms. Dawe. I thoroughly enjoyed her reading of all three stories. I would be very happy to read another book narrated by her.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
I wish I had started with book one of the series, but that wasn't possible, because Audible offered book three as the series sale item, not book one! LOL! Still, it didn't hurt to read the last book first since the three books center on different people in this interesting cast of characters.
It was a very pleasant story and I'm glad I had a chance to purchase this at a discounted rate. Believe me, I did go back and purchase the first two books at the member rate! What more is there to say?

Decent Ending for the Trilogy
I actually liked this book better than the other two in the series. I felt more connected to the two characters in the story and was rooting for Liam the entire time. Not sure if it was because we got to know him throughout the first two books or because the book really fleshed out his character in this one.
I loved how the book began and the whole mansion in itself was a great character with its contents and history in the area. I like the linkage of Bartholomew to each of the three stories and how is own story was concluded in this book. The story was more engaging and the author did a very good job of ramping up the intensity. A good finale to the trilogy.
The biggest disappointment was in the reveal of the big bad. The red herrings in the book would have been more appropriate and exciting in my opinion. My other disappointment is still with the character of Katie who seemed to be downgraded to a chirpy always girl not the strong character we met in the first book.

Fun Story
I enjoyed the story and the narrator did a great job with the characters. Personally, I didn't care about the seafood recipes at the end of the book. I felt compelled to listen through them in case there was something added between them or at the end that might contribute to the actual story. The history about Key West in the beginning was a nice touch and seemed to contribute to the context of the story. The recipes, however, just didn't seem to fit.

Not her best work
What would have made Ghost Moon better?
This series started strongly with a ghost only one person could see. By the end no one was paying much attention to the ghost and he'd become a bit of an afterthought. I thought Heather should have dug deeper and done more with it.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I am going to a non-fiction next.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I thought the narration was OK, but her character voices for all the male characters became a bit same old same old.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ghost Moon?
I think I'd have gotten rid of a lot of the 'how fantastic this place is' stuff as she talks a lot about the streets and history and by book three we know it all.
Any additional comments?
Not her best work. If I hadn't bought all three in a 3 for 1 sale I would have stopped after book 2.

It was okay
I listened to this on audio and, while the narrator's performance was decent, the voices began to sound the same after a bit.
Other reviewers are correct, there are some sex scenes described in detail, nothing too raunchy but they could have been left out; especially the last one. I mean we get it, they're dating and having sex...we don't need to be with them every time they do it.
I would definitely try this author again because it is an interesting concept.
