Summary

At some point in our lives, most of us have felt overwhelmed by the number of things we need to do and the lack of time we have to do them. And although technology has advanced by leaps and bounds, giving us new ways to help keep track of our tasks and organize our lives, these technological advancements also bring even more demands on our time.

Join Ciara Conlon, leadership and productivity coach, author, and keynote speaker, as she guides you through tried-and-true strategies that will help you set goals, reduce clutter, elevate your productivity, and get more out of every day. Ms. Conlon will provide you with tips, tools, and techniques to help you lessen stress; have more clarity; focus and prioritize; and, above all, get and stay organized.

Through this series of 10 lectures, you’ll learn how to effectively set goals and define your priorities; efficiently use technology to control your life instead of letting technology control you; make small and simple changes to your routine, which help increase your energy and your ability to get more accomplished; and avoid common pitfalls such as procrastination, distractions, and interruptions.

With these lectures, there’s no need for you either to make big changes in how you work or to learn new technology. Ms. Conlon will introduce you to dozens of little changes that can help you to feel more in control not only of your task list, but also of your life, overall.

Some great points

This was a good book which had some great examples and techniques but nothing groundbreaking, but it definately reaffirmed that my techniques were on the right track.

Nope

Driving a car is not an automatic activity that a person can do while concentrating on something else. Doing that could get you or other innocent people killed or maimed. Throwing away your children's toys while they are away to avoid drama as this book says to do is a serious boundary violation and could turn them into hoarders or worse. This book has time honored time management ideas that can be gotten from better sources mixed in with really bad advice. Saying that this book is not worth the time to read is too nice. Following the ideas in this book could do harm to you those around you.

Highly recommended

The course was exactly what I was looking for. I covered everything I wanted to know and more. I have already started putting what I've learned so far into action in my life.

A good little book of practical advice

I would definitely recommend this book as a first read for anyone interested in the subject. It is beautifully narrated, clear, concise, to the point, structured build-up and rather practical and pragmatic. You may find nothing new if you have already read-up on this subject, as is my case. It has a good layout, which is easy to go back to as a reference book/reminder.

Learn some new techniques

I’ve heard great things about The Great Courses series and I’m always open minded about organizational tips. I learned some new things from Ciara’s lectures, which if I may say loved how they were broken up in. Also one technique I remember using a long time ago, Pomodoro technique, is one I had forgotten. Need to revisit that one, now that my life has taken a different path since I used it last at my full time job. Great book, good listen.
