Summary

The first three installments in the hilarious Gertrude, Gumshoe cozy mystery series collected for you in one place!

Introducing Gertrude, Gumshoe

Gertrude has been called a lot of things: a hoarder, an odd duck, and a crazy cat lady - but she’s never been called a gumshoe. Until now. When her neighbor goes missing, she can’t help but get involved, no matter how many people ask her not to.

Gertrude, Gumshoe: Murder at Goodwill

Gertrude is back! When she finds a murder victim at her local Goodwill, she tries to tell the sheriff’s department everything she knows. Of course, they don’t listen. So of course, she must solve the mystery herself. And the only way she can figure to do this is to go undercover - as the Mattawooptock Goodwill’s newest team member. Anyone who knows Gertrude knows this probably isn’t the best idea. She’ll probably get fired. Or arrested. Or worse.

Gertrude, Gumshoe and the VardSale Villain

Samantha Cooper is missing, and her boyfriend is desperate to find her. Desperate enough to hire Gertrude, Gumshoe. Thrilled to have her first real client, Gertrude gets right to work. But is she really ready for a real case? Can she catch a kidnapper without getting herself kidnapped?

Oh, Gertrude...

I had listened to a couple of the stories in this set before, and when it came out as a box set, I just had to listen again. Now I’ve been able to enjoy them all.

Gertrude is one of my all time favorite characters in cozy mysteries. Robin Merrill has developed her in such a believable way, and I can’t imagine anyone but Darlene Allen bringing her to life. I actually laugh out loud at her antics.

I really hope we get to see much more of Gertrude... I’m a true fan!

Still laughing

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review at my request. I must admit i was not sure about these books when i first requested them but i thought i will give them a try. Boy am i glad i did. These books kept me in stitches from laughing. Gertrude is a cat lady(nothing wrong with cat ladies, love cats myself), a bit of a hoarder and keeps saying she is disabled.I am not so sure about that. She seems to need her walker to get around but again i am no so sure. Gertrude is pushy and gets straight to the point when is is trying to help the police with a crime(not asked for), She drags her neighbor friend, Calvin, into the mix as well. Gertrude gets herself in a pickle it seems all the time but she manages to get man or woman. Again, i am so glad i took the chance listened to these books. If you want a laugh, i recommend these books. The narrator did a fantastic job with the voices. I look forward to more in this series.

Great Read

Gertrude, Gumshoe Cozy Mystery Series Box Set: Books 1, 2, and 3 was a great read by Robin Merrill. This book includes; Introducing Gertrude, Gumshoe; Gertrude, Gumshoe: Murder at Goodwill; and Gertrude, Gumshoe: And the Vardsale Villain. The books follow Gertrude trying to hone her Gumshoe skills. She is investigating deaths and disappearances that seem to follow her. I can't wait to read more of Gertrude's story.

An Unusual Detective Who Always Gets Her (Wo)Man

I loved all of these stories and found them to be engaging, suspenseful and just plain fun. Gertrude is a very unusual detective but in her naive and relentless way, she manages to lead the reader through the clues to the murder while providing plenty of smiles and laughter along the way.
Highly recommended.

Don't mess with senior citizens

Amusing tales of senior citizen antics. Trying to keep pace with the 21st century, along with solving a mystery or two or three, these elders are a hoot.

Totally unbelievable even for a cozy mystery

I'm very sorry I wasted a credit on this 3-book set - the 1st book was enough! Gertrude is a hoarder living with 8 cats in a trailer??? Although she uses a walker, she has no trouble going up her steps, or climbing a trellis (towards the end of book 1), and I cannot suspend my belief system that far. The narrator spoke too slowly, as if she were reading to a group of ESL students. This book is only memorable in the sense that I want to remember never to buy another one!

Love cozy mysteries but....

The narration was stilted and Gertrude’s voice overbearing & unpleasant. The corny sayings & cliches got old. The storylines were too far fetched & I just didn’t like Gertrude. I did like her cats & their names though.

Humorous Cozy Box Set

This gem of a box set is really funny! Gertrude is a feisty old lady, who becomes embroiled with solving murders. She seems to have a knack for discovering dead bodies. Despite being disabled and having to use a walker, Gertrude doesn't have limits. She doesn't consider herself elderly. She doesn't have a driver's license or a car but takes the free community bus service for citizens in need around town. She also bums rides from her senior neighbor Calvin, who reluctantly accompanies Gertrude on her adventures. Gertrude has a dozen or more cats, all named. She collects items that may be of use sometime and stores them in piles in her trailer park home. Gertrude calls herself a collector.

Book one is hilarious, when the investigation takes Gertrude and Calvin to a strip club. After showing the police how it should be done, Gertrude decides to become a gumshoe. In book two, Gertrude is shopping in Goodwill and discovers a dead woman in the store. So she gets a job at Goodwill in order to help discover the identity of the murderer. It is so funny! In book three, Gertrude searches for a woman who disappeared while picking up merchandise purchased through an online auction site. Gertrude's struggles to become familiar with technology are humorous.

Each book is a stand alone. All are clean and cozy. They will make listeners laugh and smile!

I rate this box set at five stars.

gumshoe senior

With esch story, I find Gertrude more likable and interesting. Cat lady detective. She seems to have a very soft heart once you break through her exterior. Calvin is a great friend and sidekick. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.
