By: George W. Bush

Summary

On January 20, 2005, George W. Bush took the oath of office to become the nation's 16th second-term president. The President's 17-minute speech focused on themes of hope and freedom. Near freezing temperatures did not discourage the more than a half million spectators who gathered to see the swearing in at the West Front of the Capital and the traditional parade. In the first presidential inauguration ceremony since 9/11, the security in Washington, D.C. was extremely tight. The audio of this ceremony was presented by the Associated Press with voice-over from their reporters in Washington, D.C.
