Summary

Gazza's tears in the 1990 World Cup semi-final launched the boom of interest in football that continues to this day. Suddenly, Paul Gascoigne found himself the centre of attention in a way that only George Best and David Beckham have ever experienced.

So much has been written about Gazza over the years, but he has said little - until now. For the first time, he talks in depth about the key events in his life: the injuries that threatened his career, what really happened when he was dropped from Glenn Hoddle's World Cup squad, his battles with alcoholism and other health problems, as well as his private life away from the spotlight. He also recalls the outrageous antics that have made the headlines, and discusses his hopes for his life after football.

Gazza is loved by fans of the game throughout the country, and his autobiography is quite simply the most remarkable footballing story you'll ever read.

Footballing Legend

Alarming story of what goes on inside the head of one of British football best midfielders not to mention a Rangers legend.

From the highs of playing for club and country to the lows of addition, anxiety and wife beating.

An eye opener.

Hope Gazza gets better

A guide book on how to throw your life away.

If you really need to know how depression can ruin a life even when you have the greatest opportunities at your fingertips then you should read this. However it is not very entertaining to hear. Where is the dressing room banter that Gazza was so famous for? This book is written as almost an apology rather than an autobiography, but it still contains lots of interesting football snippets. Unfortunately these always seem to turn into tales about boozing and Sheryl and then back to football again, all in the same chapter. Very random.

A very interesting and moving story

I did not know much about the personal life of this sportsman, but found his story very interesting. He did not read the book himself, but the narrator was excellent.

Less than two football matches long?

I've always loved Gazza and the stories that surround him. Sadly a mere couple of hours just doesn't even give you an insight in to his career and life's ups and downs. I sadly learnt more from Chris Evans autobiography about Gazza, than from this.

Both sad and happy story of a true England legend

This book really reinforces the fact Gazza was born a generation or two, too early to get the help he needed. A man of multiple personalities and clearly suffering from ADHD and other disorders he really was a wasted talent. He achieved so much in life and football but only used 20% of his talent. When fit he was a world beater but in all honesty he was probably only at his best for about 2 years in total. Like Michael Owen you can tell that England was the most important aspect of his career but I can fully understand the dislike for a man who hits his wife but the sad truth is had Gazza been born in the 90s or 00s his depression and yoyo behaviour would be much more managed. The joker, the emotional clown, the funny man and the footballer sum him up well. I honesty hope Paul Gascoigne can stay alcohol and drug free such a shame he never lifted a European Cup or World Cup trophy...... I dont think even Alex Ferguson could have changed him had he gone to United.

Lacks detail

Sadly not a great story, I was expecting more about his football memories and experiences but I truly believe he can’t remember details, a fantastic player, a wasted man, but I still love Gazza the footballer.
