About this listen

Disaster.

There was no other word to describe how Operation Olympic had changed in a flash from a triumph to the worst failure the Merry Band of Pirates had ever experienced. A failure that meant the fight was over. Unless the Pirates could perform a miracle, without Skippy.

The Expeditionary Force saga continues with Gateway from epic sci-fi writer Craig Alanson and narrated by none other than R.C. Bray.

It used too much of the same as before while I’m a massive fan of this series this felt dragged out.
There were good moment though.
Onwards to the next adventure

Less than thrilling

the last book in this series was pants, but in this book the author gets his mojo back and stops with the politicised messages that i could really do without .

Skippy continues to make me laugh but I hope for more inter species interactions. All in all good but should be less predictable and less repetitive jokes.

Glad it is continuing

another amazing book, just constant flow, never a dull moment I can't recommend this book more just wish the series wasn't almost over.

As always left me wanting more

Great book (Craig Alanson) and performance (RC Bray) makes you feel like your in the room with the Merry Band of Pirates. Fingers crossed for a 19th book.

Alanson & Bray, the dream team

Great listen as always.

I both want to see the series end, but also always want to have more stories from this universe, so that is when you know it's a great series.

SPOILER!

Another juicy cliffhanger, the next book can't come soon enough.

Bring on the Ruin!

Lots of good story. Batter than the previous one. For some reason I thought it’d be the last but the end while satisfying, all of a sudden, twisted round and gut punched me. Now i don’t know if im happy there’s gunna be more or raging there wasn’t … well best not say anything else and risk spoilers. Great part of the saga. Definitely much better than the last one which had disappointed me a bit with repetitive sameness. RC Braay as ever is gleaming.

If u love the series u will love this.

This does feel a bit drawn out now but I am going to continue for one more book to see if the rotten kitty’s get their deserved kicking. It still has some funny moments but the script is repetitive in places. Think how many times crows get mentioned in George RR Martin’s books, ‘I hate you’ is in the same bracket in this series. It’s clear the author has some favourite but albeit dull characters who have not croaked it (as yet) but there is enough entertainment with Skippy and Sketchy McSkeazeball, amongst others.

Same old but entertaining

Fantastic again! I just love these stories and the characters. I need to know what happens next all of the time. And the detail of the writing just allows you to everything that the author sees. "I pointed to a bowl of sweets om my desk as he came in and he shook his head in the negative" or something like that. A purely visual description of the room that in actual fact had nothing to do with the story but you right there in the room with them both.

comedy ans detail
