Summary
David Xavier - and all those he loved or counted as friends - would forever be mouth-watering targets to men of evil intent. His wealth could settle a small country's foreign debt. Because of this, from the moment of his birth, his mother obscured his identity. Reborn as the man named Gabriel, however, he walked free into a world where the innocents and the weak cried out for a defender, for the hand of justice, for a guardian angel.
In response, an elite, paramilitary operation, Guardian, rose to stand between the evil men did and those whom they would make their victims. Gabriel was CEO. His goal was worthy and all consuming, but fighting on the side of angels didn’t make his nights less lonely or soothe the ache in his heart for hearth, home, and family.
He needed a courageous woman of unflinching integrity, of goodness and honor, to stand at his side. He’d given up hope of finding such a person. He thought he'd found her years ago. The sex had been combustible, but they’d met at the very birth of Guardian, when he hadn’t time for a personal life. Chalk it up to fate or bad timing.
Over the years, 28-year-old, Denver ER nurse, Anna Harriger, watched as all her friends, many of whom were former patients, found their soul mates, got married, and had children. Shoot, she’d been a bridesmaid six times. She figured she was destined to be the “crazy friend” that everyone liked but who, at the end of the day, went home to a solitary apartment. She wanted love. She wanted a family, but she refused to compromise her standards. She’d met her Prince Charming, but unlike the fairytale, after an incendiary night of sex, she’d never seen him again. Chalk it up to fate or bad timing.
When events throw them together again, each find their attraction vastly more than simply physical, but once again, Gabriel’s responsibilities pull them apart. After an absence of almost half a year, Gabriel returns for Anna, but she has vanished.

What a great find
Sometimes when I don’t know what I want to listen to I just trawl through Audible. Well this book popped up on my Facebook feed and instantly I was drawn to it. I had a quick listen of the sample (to verify I could manage to listen to the narrator) and bought it. Well let me tell you I was so glad I did!
Excellent story. Well thought out great writing fabulous narration. I was not disappointed and am now going into Audible to see what else I can find of the author. ... need I say more 😊

Brilliant!!
Love everything Guardian and the story of how the incredible character that is Gabriel gets started is fantastic! Loved listening and found myself resetting the sleep timer cos I kept needing more instead of falling asleep!! Anna is a lovely character in her unassuming and straight forward nature. Their relationship somehow seemed comfortable yet wasn’t easy. Great characters and loved every minute. Loved how the Kings made an appearance and became important. Well worth it. 😜

Totally
Loved loved Anna "totally like , like totally....... "
This is Gabriel and Anna's story. What made this more fun for me, is that it was set in the 90s. No internet. no smart phones .
The mention of of Dallas and the mention of Joan Collins and shoulder pads.
We have a serial killer on the loose and Guardian Securities are called into help. But it is not the serial killer that Anna has to watch out for. Anna and Gabriel's attraction is hot.
I also loved the fact, neither of them pretended how their felt . It was refreshing.
A love story that builds .
I did enjoyed the narration of Matt Haynes. It takes me a couple of words and I settle into his voice.

Makes you want to roll your eyes
I would have to disagree with the other reviews. I was so looking forward to this book after reading the plot line and other reviews. The narrator was not horrible, but he spoke in a robotic manner, with lots of pauses, over-articulation, and dragging out of words.
The descriptive words used by the author were somewhat nauseating, especially the way the narrator said them. "Her brain fogged from the deliciousness leaning against the counter". Really? I couldn't stomach finishing the book, unfortunately.

I think this one's my favorite
I do love kris michaels Guardians books, but I think this one might be my favorite. it was long which have it time to really develop the story and characters and relationships. highly recommend it if you like kris michaels of course, but also if you like good tense romances with a little action.
this one is maybe not quite as much suspense as I normally like but still a good one!

Gabriel is the legend behind Guardian Security
Gabriel is the first in the Guardian Defenders series. I’ve read many of Kris’ books and Gabriel did not disappoint! I’ve always been intrigued by the man behind the legend of Guardian Security. He’s always been a mysterious character. Now, I feel like I know him and Anna much better. Although, I’m sure there’s always more to know about the illusive David Xavier.
If Gabriel is at the heart of Guardian Security, then Anna is its soul. Because without Anna, I don’t believe that Gabriel would be the man he is today. There were multiple twists, surprises, and the intensity kept me going. This is a story about love, dedication, trust, and loss.
I love the Kings of Guardian; and now, the Guardian Defenders have captured my heart.

Guardian - Best yet
I’ve read all of the King/Simmons books & several Shadow books. This book had so much heart, not just steamy romps, but real heart. I cried & laughed.
I loved Hurricane Anna & how she made Gabriel better. This was well worth the credit!

Kris Michaels Guardian Series are AMAZING! Every book is great keeping the story connected and players are real.
Reads to keep you unable to stop at every turn. Start at the the first book and don't stop.
GREAT, Kris Michaels did the reach on how the real Guardians would react to each enter action.

Intriguing and well written
I enjoyed this book immensely and highly recommend it. The suspense of the story line is spot on and in keeping with many of the other wonderful books written by Kris Michaels.

Gabriel is a extraordinary story.
Gabriel was an exceptional story with superb narration by Matt Haynes. This is one of those books that I would repeatedly reread and would try another Kris Michaels book.
