Summary

Duty and motherhood don't go well together, at least not for the Fae Queen of Winter. With the Fae Queen of Summer itching for war, a daughter to protect, and a kingdom to run, things are already complicated for Nieves. When she calls the annual frosts and discovers she's being watched by a mysterious man, things only get worse.

Faced with an almost impossible choice, Nieves has to make the best decision for her people, her daughter, and her heart.

Frost's Forfeit is a stand-alone paranormal fantasy romance set in the Paranormal Council Universe and is prequel to Saving Eira.

Pleasantly Surprised

I'll admit, it took me longer than it should have to realize this was JACK FROST! I enjoyed this story. I wished it was longer because you can easily get lost in this novella. There's no other way to say this, but the narration was a bit stiff at first, but I don't think I would have picked anyone else to narrate this story. My only complaint is I wished it was longer.

Love his story

I really love hearing Laura Greenwood’s stories brought to life by audio. The narrator is a bit wooden sounding at times but the story was amazing.

Intro to Jack Frost

I was pleasantly surprised when I realized this storyline was about Jack Frost. The book had a very intriguing storyline, and I am certainly interested in continuing the series. The narrator did a fantastic job and has a pleasant voice. Note, this is a short listen. 🎧 AudiobookObsession

Excellent short story and world set up

It took me a little while to settle to Keira Steven's voice. The narration seemed a little stilted to start with but then relaxed and flowed beautifully becoming stilted again right at the end. It really didn't do anything to pull me out of the story though.

This was an enjoyable short story which I would guess sets things up for the actual series (which I am looking forward to listening to). It gives quite a lot of information about the world and the characters in it and builds it quite nicely without being overwhelming. When the punchline of the story dawned on me it really made me chuckle and I spent the rest of it waiting for that to happen. Which, again, didn't at all detract from the story. I enjoyed seeing how it was brought about.

Winters!

Very good, short story! I loved it! Even for being so short, I felt I didn't miss out on anything or get pushed through the book too fast. It was well written and done amazing!

Good listen

I really enjoyed this story, other than the story and its twists and turns I like the seasons and their interactions, the way the fae keep the balance.
I found the narration clipped to start but got used to Keira’s vocals quickly.

Intriguing

I was a little lost at first but loved how she was able to bring her daughter home and find her mate. This was a very emotional short story and really got to me with the intrigue and love. I was surprised at the ending but glad there was still a HEA.

🧝🏻‍♀️ A great start.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from Audiobook Obsession.

I loved this book. I enjoyed Nieves and Jack's relationship. Nieves is the Winter Queen and she is just trying to make sure her people and her daughter are being taking care of. Unfortunately for her she is thrust into this war that she does not want but it seems like everyone around her wants.

I love the instant connection her and Jack both had with one another. Even though this novella takes place over 2 or 3 days you can tell that they were meant to be. The fact that this book is part of a series makes me very very excited. I am going to devour all of the books associated with this because Laura Greenwood It's simply fantastic.

I was a little bored

Maybe it was so because it's a short story, I'm not really sure.
The story was ok because of the love she showed for her daughter. The romance was there but I wasn't feeling it.

The narration was also ok but I missed the emotions.

Short and sweet

This is a great start for the series. Frost's Forfeit introduces Nieves and Jack and gives insight into the story of Jack Frost.
Nieves is the Winter Fae Queen and she has some tough choices to make for her kingdom, her daughter and herself.

Magical Prequel

I thought this was a really good prequel for Saving Eira and retelling of Jack Frost! I loved learning the backstory and some of the characters that set up the Paranormal Council Universe. Nieves and Jack had an instant connection that they were meant to be and so much more. Nieves character was really relatable to any mother figure and I think she did the best that she could in protecting her daughter, people, and lover.
Kiera did an awesome job with this narration! She really brought Nieves to life with the amount of passion that she put into her performance. Her voice was enchanting so it was told like a fairytale and had me hooked!
