Story
God is a tough audience as far as audible response is concerned, but at least you don't have to explain the references. In this collection of prayers, much-loved comedian, broadcaster and radio host Frank Skinner has tried to retain the bare candour of the rehearsal-room improvisation - to show what faith feels like, from the inside - but infused it with all the production values required to make it a passable public entertainment. In it are his convictions, his questions, his fears, his doubts, his elations - all presented in an eavesdropper-friendly form.

Story
Jack Dee is here to help. Too often today the emphasis in psychotherapy is on providing clients with a metaphorical hug when what they so clearly need is good slap, so Jack Dee took the matter into his own hands, and whilst everyone else was baking bread and clearing out their cupboards during lockdown, he retrained online as a psychotherapist. After an incredibly gruelling four hours of study, he got his certificate of completion from The Ruislip College of Advansed Learning (sic).

Story
In his first memoir, Josh Widdicombe tells the story of a strange rural childhood, the kind of childhood he only realised was weird when he left home and started telling people about it. From only having four people in his year at school, to living in a family home where they didn't just not bother to lock the front door, they didn't even have a key. Using a different television show of the time as its starting point for each chapter, Watching Neighbours Twice a Day... is part-childhood memoir, part-comic history of '90s television and culture.

Frank in name, frank in nature
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Maybe not, subject matter is a bit near the knuckle and fairly one dimensional. Certainly think it should carry and age restriction warning as I couldn't play this in the company of younger people - or maybe the very old as well! Also some references are dated now and there's visual humour that is lost
What was most disappointing about Frank Skinner’s story?
Some of the visual gags cannot be imagined so you miss out. having embarked along a "let's shock 'em with sexual talk" I expected there to be other topics interspersed but it was pretty much mono-themed
Which character – as performed by the narrator – was your favourite?
This was three stand up routines so this field isn't strictly relevent. However, it gives me an opportunity to say I like Frank Skinner and have been to see him live. Very funny. Unfortunately, I felt a bit let down as he has a wide pool of subject to extract humour and here it was mostly themed about his sexual experiences
Do you think Frank Skinner needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yes - newer material, or even a dip into his back catalogue to get wider topic areas provided references aren't too dated

Frank Skinner The Standup Collection
I have watched Frank Skinner on television over the years and have found his style of comedy to be witty and observant. I bought the audio book expecting something in a similar vein, I was right and wrong. He is still the fanastic comedy story teller but the audio book is a no holes barred keep the kids in another room romp from start to finish. Certainly not one to listen to with Dad and mum..... she would have a heart attack!!!!! A good length book at approx 3.30 hours makes it well worth every penny.

Crude, Uninspiring and short on humour
What would have made Frank Skinner better?
Less reliance on crude sexual imagery, and a greater focus on something that has intrinsic humorous value.
Would you be willing to try another one of the narrator’s performances?
Not on the evidence of this one.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Great disappointment.
