Story
With nearly 200,000 copies sold in its 25 years, Chosen by God by Dr. R. C. Sproul is a contemporary classic on predestination, a doctrine that isn't just for Calvinists, says Sproul. It is a doctrine for all biblical Christians. In this updated and expanded edition of Chosen by God, Sproul shows that the doctrine of predestination doesn't create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God but paints a portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans.

Amazing Course
What did you like most about Foundations?
This is essentially like doing a Systematic Theology course with R.C. Sproul who is an excellent teacher and theologian. I have read several of his books before and really enjoyed them, but this audiobook himself is like studying under the great man. The lessons are split into roughly 20 minute lectures / chapters and I have been doing one a day as part of my commute.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Foundations?
The section on predestination really helped me to understand the idea better. What is does and doesn't mean.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
It is hard to pick out stand-alone sections as being more enjoyable. I enjoyed better understanding the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
You would need a brain bigger than I to digest this all in one sitting. Each 20 minute lesson is more than enough to be thinking about. I have also picked certain chapters to play at my house group.
Any additional comments?
If you are a Christian and want to grow in your understanding then I don't think there are many better ways to get deep understanding in an accessible way than this book. I would encourage you to check it out.

For a long time, I've thought that theology was something for people who are smarter than I am. But through listening to this book, I've come to realise that the smart people have already done the heavy lifting and pieced everything together into a cohesive framework, which enriches our understanding of who God is, what he is like and why he is everything to us.

Wonderful Introduction to Systematic Theology
Would you consider the audio edition of Foundations to be better than the print version?
I prefer the version better than the print version that was based off these lectures, "Everyone's a Theologian" because I thoroughly enjoy RC Sproul's ability to engage his audience as an orator.
What did you like best about this story?
Hands down, my favorite part of these lectures is Sproul's abilities to make sense for the lay person when discussing deep theological concepts.
Have you listened to any of R. C. Sproul’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I'm a subscriber to Ligonier Connect and am very familiar with all of RC Sproul's lectures. "Foundations" is one of my most favorite because it is a wonderful introduction to Systematic Theology, a subject that, sadly, too many Christians know nothing nor care to know anything about.

Famous reformed theologian, R.C. Sproul, comprehensively covers doctrine from the existence of God, Jesus' last supper and the apocalypse in a very understandable way. a classic!
I love R.C. Sproul (wish he were my grandpa) and I love all that he teaches. His doctrine is solid.... with the exception of chapter 6. on inerrancy of the Bible. He seems to want to avoid "circularity", which is understandable but inescapable as a Christian. He has to join that label (along with myself) along with any Christian that wants to be faithful. Starting with Jesus as "a good man" or "a basically reliable bible" is weak. R.C. starts with Jesus but only as sort kinda reliable and progresses from there to reliable / and besides starting with Jesus is starting with the Bible. The Bible is the word of God and can't be associated with the words "basically reliable". As a Calvinist it's hard to listen to chapter 6. Christian epistemology is pretty much shot and weakened by not proclaiming it as God sees it in full. The natural man will Absolutly disagree, so what, it's expected and that's why we develop avenues toward meaningful discussion and reason. And There are other ways to disguise circularity but that would take a whole book to discuss such an issue and not to be left on a review. truth is truth. Anyhow I love his teaching on eschatology and everything else. I recommend this to all Christians that wish to sharpen their theology.

Strong overview, though a bit easy
What made the experience of listening to Foundations the most enjoyable?
The span of theology, the quick overview, and some new, good insights
Any additional comments?
I appretiate that this is meant as an introduction to all the different subjects within theology, but I would love if it would have gone a little bit deeper in some subjects.
Also, it's really, really annoying with the beginning and end of every single chapter being the commercial of the radio program...
