Summary
I can’t forgive myself. Not after what I did. Could you?
Archie Colbrook spends his time writing letters. Letters to the stranger to who he committed terrible harm. Archie knows he doesn’t deserve forgiveness. Yes, he didn’t mean to hurt anyone. But does that matter? He still did it.
Claudia Winters hopes to feel safe for the first time in years, it’s her chance for a new beginning. But Claudia knows that the past won’t stay hidden for long - and she can’t help but feel that it’s all about to catch up with her.
Tense, emotional and gripping, Susan Lewis’s latest novel is a spellbinding story of love, family and the price of forgiveness.

Restorative justice
Brilliant story by Susan Lewis; well researched and written. The two different narrations captivated me.

Narration
Loved the story, nothing too complicated but still enjoyable. However it wasn’t the narration by Sam Newton that clinched it for me. Loved how well he spoke his part and made the character real.
I’ve never listened to a 2 people narrative before and I have to say it was brilliant. Laura Kirman voiced each person brilliantly and I knew who was talking straight away. Loved her voice for Marcia.

A great story and great narration!
I really enjoyed this book, the narration was faultless!
Claudia left her husband once he was arrested and ran with her daughter and mother to start a new life. she is constantly looking over her shoulder as her husband is a powerful man with contacts. He was mentally abusive and. controlling, and she took her opportunity to leave and take what she was owed as soon as she could.
as they settle into their new lives and make new friends, Claudia starts to relax. However, a point arrives when she has to face her demons and face that she has been found when Claudia's mother Marcie is seriously injured.
In between the chapters about Claudia and Marcie, we have chapters based on another character who is a criminal in a restorative justice programme. we hear him telling his story of his life and how he came to prison.
The two stories collide in fabulous fashion about three quarters of the way through the book, and then the story develops further until it reaches its conclusion.
It kept me gripped and wanting 'one more chapter' each time I had to put it down.
Two narrators perform this story, and both were excellently cast. The young male narrator portrayed the hardships and remorse of the criminal so believable. The female narrator had the harder role of reading multiple characters, which she did brilliantly, changing tone and accent so each character was identifiable.
Overall, a 5 star listen, which I shall definitely recommend!

pretty dull to be honest!
This had the potential to be a really interesting story but to be honest it was just a bit flat. everything had a "it all worked out in the end" sort of theme and the characters had no depth. I have loved Susan Lewis's previous work so was pretty disappointed with this. The female voicing male parts was irritating too, just not as good as in other audio books unfortunately. I stick with it because I wanted to see if it got better but I should have returned it really.
