Story
Kate used to be good at recognising people. So good, she worked for the police, identifying criminals in crowds of thousands. But six months ago, a devastating car accident led to a brain injury. Now the woman who never forgot a face can barely recognise herself in the mirror. At least she has Rob. Young, rich, handsome and successful, Rob runs a tech company on the idyllic Cornish coast. Kate met him just after her accident, and he nursed her back to health. Until one day, she looks at Rob anew.

And when I’m accused of things I didn’t do, when my home is vandalized, I know she’s behind it. But she only lets her mask slip when no one is looking, so if I say anything, I’ll look crazy. Women are rarely cold-blooded killers. But when famous philanthropist Hugo Fletcher is found dead, there is no doubt in anybody's mind that the killer is a woman. And it is clear from the precision of the planning that this was no crime of passion. It was an execution. The victim was revered the world over for his charitable work with trafficked Eastern European prostitutes, and as at least one of these girls is missing, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Douglas is certain that there has to be a connection.

Great story. Superb narration.
First time I’ve heard/read a J S Monroe book. I wasn’t disappointed. Kept me guessing all the way along. I am looking at others now!
The experience was made all the better by Olivia Mace’s narration, which was just fantastic. A1. Such an amazing array of different voices & accents, male & female.

couldnt put it down!
listened via audible and loved the story so much! i listen to hundreds of psychological thrillers, as this is my preferred genre and this had so many twists and turns, as well as a creepy villain and a very suprising twist! just one downside for me. The narrator talks in a very cross/ statement kind of way. I hoped by speeding the narration up a little it wouldnt annoy me so much, but it did. even when she should have used a softer tone to signal anxiety or stress/ confusion she still seemed like she was reading a bad news report on tv. This will put me off from listening to it again i think. I do feel there may be a follow up and i do hope so as the characters were fairly likable but didnt have much depth, this cpuld be achieved with a second book. The village and its scenery could be expanded on too. apart from Tony's cafe, I didn't much get a feel for the village at all.
overall a really good story that I listened to over 3 days whilst pottering around the house. Well done to the writer j.s monroe, I for one will be waiting for your next book. Thank you.

Cannot reccommend
If I hadn't bought this book with a credit I have from another awful book I returned, I would have returned this one. Way too far fetched, with so many coincidences I got blase whenever another one happened. Oh and if I never hear the word Hyppocampus again I will be very well pleased, because the amount of times it was used in one of the chapters was ridiculous.
As for the narration - it sounded like bullets fired from a gun rather than words spoken to entertain.

A Very Clever Gripping Thriller
I wasn’t sure about the first half of this book, I was tempted to delete it. I was confused at exactly where the story was heading and thought the author was going off on unnecessary tangents ........ how wrong I was. As the story progressed everything very cleverly came together in a gripping conclusion.

Good but far fetched
This story is a clever long drawn out story of memory and the effects of amnesia.
I liked it but there were so many far fetched coincidences that it was difficult to relate at times. That said, I enjoyed the twisted tale and persevered with it.
Narration was top.
