From Joe Haldeman, the all-time master of military science fiction, comes the new novel set in the universe of his Hugo and Nebula Award-winning classic The Forever War. An epic story about war, peace, and the price of freedom, Forever Free reintroduces readers to William Mandella--who has been living peacefully on the planet called Middle Finger, a refuge for humans who refuse to become part of the group mind known as Man. But after decades of this peace, Mandella and others are tired of living like zoo animals. So they steal a starship--and embark upon a voyage that will forever change their understanding of the universe...and themselves.©1999 Joe Haldeman (P)2016 Recorded Books Adventure Genetic Engineering Genre Fiction Metaphysical & Visionary Military Science Fiction

Shame about it being read by Quagmire from Family Guy. It's great to have a follow on from the excellent Forever Wat.

Great Story

Unfortunately not as great as the other two books.

The performance was excellent, however the story felt subpar, and character motivations at the beginning of the book didn't make much sense when comparing them to Forever War.

Disappointing

Passable genre SF but none of the insight of the original, save your time. If anything the ending of the last one is considerably undermined by this unnecessary sequel.

Disappointing follow up

Great books read many times they would make a great film part 1 The War and Part 2 Free let’s do something original rather than just remakes of old films

Forever War & Forever Free would make a glorious film

Having recently listened to The Forever War, I was left thirsty for more. I learned of the for-mentioned books sequel, " The Forever Free". Following on with the adventures of William Mandella and Mary Gay.
What a book. I was worried it may not be as inspirational as The Forever War. How wrong I was. the was a fantastic book, containing all the right ingredients to quench my thirst for excitement. I don't want cover the contents as I believe this would spoil this for some, what I can say though is that the original story line was written in 1975 and I have only just to date learned of their existence.
as the title states, I was unable to put this book down "from start to finish". The is something quite profound about Joe Haldeman and his writing style. Read it and you will find out.

From start to finish.
