The most remarkable weapon in the fight against crime, forensic science turns bullet trajectories, bodily fluids and the very structure of our DNA into damning witnesses of our every act. Packed with examples from real-life cases, this Beginner Guide covers all major areas of forensic science, including drugs, trace evidence and crime scene investigation. Pathology, anthropology and the laws that govern this evidence all come under the scalpel as Jay Siegel tracks the journey of evidence from crime scene to courtroom, revealing the incredible complexities and surprising pitfalls of a field that is crucial to our struggle for justice.©2009 Jay Siegel. Editör yorumları

Rodney Gardiner’s deep, rich baritone and inviting tone draws the listener in from the first lines of Jay Siegel’s broad survey on forensic science: a relatively nascent field whose sensationalistic aspects have been emphasized throughout film, TV, and literature for the past 20 years and whose utilization in the real-world justice system has proved to be vital yet highly contentious.

While Siegel dissects real-life cases, he doesn’t dwell on graphic details or embrace the lurid aspects of the crimes featured; his aim is to debunk myths and provide a cogent, enjoyable introduction into this complex and intriguing field.

Clear, concise, and offering an insightful perspective on a popular topic, Siegel makes the complexity and importance of forensic science understandable to anyone.” (Max M Houck, Director of the Forensic Science Initiative and co-author of ‘Fundamentals of Forensic Science’)
“Easy to understand yet rigorous. His discussion of bias is outstanding and should be read by everyone with any interest in forensic science.” (Chris Tindall, Professor of Chemistry and Director of Criminalistics at the Metropolitan State College of Denver)
