This is one of those audiobooks that stays in your head long after it's over. I kept catching myself thinking about different parts of it during the day and wondering how much of what we accept about ancient history might be incomplete. Whether you agree with every argument or not, the author presents the ideas in a way that is genuinely fascinating to follow. James Butler was the perfect narrator for this kind of material and made even the more complex sections easy to stay engaged with. By the end, I felt like I'd been taken on a journey through dozens of mysteries that all connected in unexpected ways. Easily one of my favorite listens this year.

I've gone through a lot of books in this genre, so it's getting harder to surprise me, but this one actually managed to do it. What I liked most was how many different ideas were brought together without feeling all over the place. The sections about a possible civilization that existed long before recorded history were especially interesting and gave me a lot to think about afterward. The narration was good overall, though there were moments where I wished for a little more energy or emphasis. Even so, the content itself was strong enough that I kept listening whenever I had free time. If you're already interested in alternative history, this is definitely worth checking out.

What I liked most was that the author didn't just throw out big ideas and move on. He constantly brought up examples, comparisons, and details that made me want to keep listening. The sections discussing genetics were especially fascinating because they covered topics I hadn't encountered in other books on ancient civilizations. This was one of those audiobooks where I kept telling myself I'd stop after the next chapter and never actually did. The discussions about ancient engineering and megalithic sites were easily my favorite parts, especially when comparisons were made between cultures on opposite sides of the world. The book constantly gave me new things to think about, and I found myself looking forward to every chapter. By the end, I was already searching for more books on the same topic.

I've listened to plenty of books about ancient mysteries, but this one did a particularly good job of bringing different ideas together into a single picture. Instead of feeling like a collection of unrelated theories, everything seemed connected in a way that kept me interested from beginning to end. More than once I caught myself thinking, "I'd never looked at it that way before." Definitely one of the more memorable listens I've had in this genre.
