About this listen
This temptation is my punishment.
His redemption is my penance. Jonah Hendrix is the bad boy of the music industry.
As lead guitarist of The Hometown Heartless, negative press follows him like a scorned lover.
And even his fans fuel the flames of his torched reputation.
Despite his permanent residence in the media, he’s never been on my radar.
Not until my boss comes to me with a proposition:
Join The Hometown Heartless on tour to redeem Jonah in the public eye, and finally get the promotion I’ve been working toward.
I’m not a PR specialist, and it’s not my career ambition, but I’m determined to see this job through.
As long as I treat the surly rock star like a brand, I’ll succeed in rehabbing his reputation and survive the tour with my sanity intact.
The problem?
Jonah and I have more in common than either of us realized.
And that desire for connection?
It’s proving to be irresistible.
FWAR is Jonah's book.
It is the third standalone in The Hometown Heartless series and contains a crossover character from The Next Life series.
This book DOES contain spoilers for The Next Life duet and The Hometown Heartless series.
While it is not necessary to listen to any of the previous books, listening to them will enhance your appreciation of this story as well as provide a better understanding of the depth of the character dynamics, personalities, and backstories.
For clarification, FWAR takes place chronologically as the next story in both The Hometown Heartless series and The Next Life series.
Title, Cover, and Blurb reveal in January.
Claire is “dating” her boss, Jonah’s father when he sends her to work with Jonah to repair his image in the media. Jonah is an addict who hates his father, with good reason. Claire lacks empathy, is judgmental and has ignored every single red flag that Conrad (Jonah’s father) has waived unashamedly in her face for months. What could possibly go wrong?
At the beginning of this book and tbh most of the way through, I struggled to like Claire. She was severely lacking in empathy, and the relationship between herself and Jonah was toxic, However as the book progressed, both parties softened and she became more likeable. Jonah is loveable, despite his issues and the more i found out about his history, the more i liked him; his father is a proper evil character.
There’s drama and angst in abundance so if that’s your thing this will be for you. A comedy it is not. We have appearances from the rest of the Hometown Heartless which is a nice reminder of previous stories.
Both narrators did a really great job, Jason Clark is so good at the emotional stuff, it’s like he’s there in the room. This one is well worth a listen.
Oodles of drama and angst.

The best narration I’ve heard in 2025. They totally bought the characters to life. AMAZING
Loved the bloopers 🤣
Utterly fantastic

I have loved the previous two books in the series and I was really loving this too until I realised who Claire was in a previous book and I'm afraid I couldn't forgive her for being such a truly horrid human being.
Added to this was the unexpected occurrence which I felt was unnecessary and made the book too long. OK everyone 🙄 deserves their HEA but this way? Wags fingers. I don't buy it and it would have been a far better journey without it.
Jonah was an exceptional MMC and the pain that he endured was eye watering. He deserved his happiness and if it was through Claire, so be it, but I wish it had been someone else.
I'll miss the band of misfits and the #duetnarration was sublime.
Jonah is so gorgeous!
