About this listen

This is the story of a man named Charley who loses his job, leaves his family, and decides, one night, to end his life. Somewhere between this world and the next, he encounters his mother, who died years ago, and he spends one last day with her - a day he never had on earth. This 'ordinary' day covers the whole of their existence, and reveals how Charley, like many children, was constantly forced to choose between his mother and his father. He gets the chance many of us yearn for - to ask the questions never asked while our parents are alive. In the end, Charley learns how little he really knew about his mother, how her love saved their family, and how deeply he wants the chance to save his own.©2006 Mitch Albom Incorporated Family Life Fiction Genre Fiction Literary Fiction Metaphysical & Visionary

Absolutely loved the story. Couldn't put it down. Mitch has a way of taking our deepest feelings about death, family and love and crafting a story of hope.

This is a truly lovely book, full of really wholesome and kind. Moments between mother and son. You will not regret this purchase, that is for sure.

Brilliant if not a little sad

Having lost my mother 2 years prior to this review. I really planted myself in Chick's view. all the things that he said about regret really hit deep, but it was really comforting.

shed a tear here and there but overall a good experience.

Mitch's performance is great and calming

Relatable

Having two kids younger than school age has made me much soppier, but I cried repeatedly listening to this, something I haven't done with a book in years. Not an easy listen to anyone with regrets of any kind regarding their past behaviour, but all the more essential because of that. The best audiobook in my collection so far.

Heartbreaking and beautiful
