Summary

"You're not proposing we steal from a dragon?"

It's not easy to live in a world ruled by dragons. The taxes are high and their control is complete. But for one group of bold adventurers, it's time to band together and steal back some of that wealth.

No one ever said they were smart.

Ocean's Eleven meets The Hobbit - Jon Hollins' debut combines non-stop action, death-defying adventure and a never-before-assembled cast of wisecracking misfits. It is a worthy addition to every fantasy lover's horde.

Enjoyable book and interesting narrator.

Maybe abit unbelievable in what happens to the characters in places but it is fantasy. Looking forward to the next book.

Spectacular in its irreverence.

Imagine if Pratchett swore. Allot. It's like the eight foot tall lizardman says. "f***ing epic!"

To clever

Have you listened to any of John Banks’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Well I'm a huge fan of narrators like John Lee, Michael kramer, and Tim Gerard Reynolds. However, after listening to John Banks I have to say wow this man has an amazing range of voices. This is my first book with him as narrator, and I will definitely be looking out for more done by him, he was so good.

Any additional comments?

To be honest I think the author is clearly a very clever man, his wit is just amazing and made me smile many times. However, in a way that's the problem with the book, this cleverness was so overpowering that the story felt weak, and it felt like he'd written the book only to form a scaffolding to express this. Having said all that if book 2 comes out I will probably listen to it as well, I just hope it has more depth.

Brilliant

Brilliant from start to finish! Characters with excellent individual stories. Plot after plot weaving the way through the whole epically distinctive tale.

Nice enough

Nice enough, but not very engaging. I found myself spacing out for minutes at a time, and not really missing anything important to the story. The characters were a bit bland and not very memorable.

Harmless fun, but not much more.
