About this listen

Welcome, welcome, it is I, Octavius Evander, Lead Detective and Owner of The Undead Detective Agency, here to say...we’re back!

Before dropping some hints about what is to come in this amazing and very sparkly first volume, those who have no clue who I am...I’d suggest you go back and listen to the previous series that is graciously named after my Agency, otherwise... Well, frankly, you will be very confused. If confused is your way of life...carry on, I shall not judge!

Now, the story picks up months after the end of The Undead Detective Agency, and my crew is dealing with the aftermath of...well, you know what. So, of course, I, the loving, amazing boss that I am, decided that it was time for a vacation—a fun duck-related vacation. And after hinting at resorting to possible friendnapping, I got my way!

But can I, Octavius, have a single day off without someone dying?! No, apparently, I cannot! So, cue multiple murders, long-time grudges, a baffling level of incompetence, and me facing down the ultimate enemy in a battle of wits...and glitter. What more is there to say besides...let the chaos begin...again!

AUTHOR NOTE: The Undead Detective Files is an MM paranormal romance spin-off series and a continuation of The Undead Detective Agency. The books are meant to be listened to in order and after The Undead Detective Agency series. For content warning, please see author note inside or website.

So much fun, shenanigans, glitter, in short more Octavius!! This kicks off new adventures for our gang of found family, lovers, colleagues.
Can this work as a standalone, yes; but highly recommend the Undead Detective Agency series as it gives you their backstory and how they get to present day.
Octavius (the dramatic bat) leads his merry band in a new adventure when he takes them on holidays, (don't ask, but it involves a questionable email!). Of course trouble finds them - seeing how they deal with the villain is parts funny, inventive and makes the story entertaining :)

Lance West has done the narration from the first series, so happy he continues to be the voice for Octavius and the gang, especially when the dramatic bat is in his bat form.

So looking forward to the rest of the series, especially the potential for relationships for Theo/Alexander and Cormac/Henry (we can hope :) )

And they're back with more glitter, chaos!

I went into Folly of Incompetence a bit unsure—my feelings about The Undead Detective Agency were mixed, and I didn’t remember much from the previous book. So the beginning felt a little disorienting.

But once I got my bearings, it turned into exactly what I hoped for: a fun, chaotic mystery-vacation full of supernatural shenanigans. Lance West nailed the narration again, bringing just the right energy to every scene and character.

A great continuation once it picks up—definitely worth the listen if you're into quirky paranormal cases with humor and heart.

it starts with a line from 'Octavius' which is a completely fulfilled prediction of this book - 'Let the chaos begin'.
And it does. lots of funny moments - Bubby's bubble mobile, and Octavius in all his glitter filled zanyness and the rest of his crew. Great story, well narrated.

Full of fun and zanyness

Octavius just wants a vacation with his friends.
Obviously, that's not possible because trouble follows them like a magnet.
Once again, Octavious and crew are back in the tick of it as someone tries to kill him, and they have to race to find out who it is before they succeed.
I absolutely love this crew and their hilarious hijinks, plus Octavious is just adorable.
Lance West did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

Loved the series that introduced all these characters and am so very happy the author continued the crazy train. Mayhem and intrigue at every turn, snort your drinks through your nose laughs and more to come. Cannot wait to see where the ride takes us next.

So glad these guys are back
