Summary

When her last two plays are dismal failures and her relationship with her temperamental mentor falls apart, writer Bree O’Brien abandons Chicago and the regional theater where she hoped to make a name for herself to return home. Opening Flowers on Main promises to bring her a new challenge and a new kind of fulfillment.

But not all is peaceful and serene in Chesapeake Shores, with her estranged mother on the scene and her ex-lover on the warpath. Jake Collins has plenty of reasons to want Bree out of his life, but none of those are a match for the one reason he wants her to stay: he’s still in love with her.

Jake might be able to get past that old hurt if he knew Bree was home to stay, but is she? The only way to know for sure is to take a dangerous leap of faith.

Spend some more time in Chesapeake Shores.

Good Read

I love Sherryl Wood's books. This was a good read as a second in the series. I'm anxious to read Book 3. I do have to admit the Grandmother's Irish accent was distracting but the Texas accent on the bride of the brother.....the WORST. I'm from Texas and found it very offensive and not at all authentic. Not the author's fault.

Rehash

Book two was too much like book one in its constant attempts by the new couple to understand each other. The other problem is the reader who is no Barbara Rosenblat. Too bad, Worst is the attempt to make third generation Grandma sound Irish.

Heart warming family story

Would you listen to Flowers on Main again? Why?

I would listen to this story again especially when I am feeling like I cannot accomplish anything.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Flowers on Main?

Everyone loves a come back story and this is it!

Would you listen to another book narrated by Christina Traister?

I like the series and find it fun to read a book with familiar characters.

If you could rename Flowers on Main, what would you call it?

Would have loved a more varied range with the vocal performance.

Just Ok

I have read a few books in this O'Briens series by the author. The books are easy to listen to and you don't have to pay much attention if you are doing something else. However, all the books seem to sound the same. At the end of her books too the author seems to get bored and just ties everything up.

Narrarator is a robot

Would be so much better with another narrator...The story was a bit repetitive and not as good as the others in the series.

Oh, it's bad! she retorted hotly.

What disappointed you about Flowers on Main?

This book has a bad narration, way too many adverbs and adjectives, and is just all around a bad listen. Thank goodness I only paid $4.99 for it. It really shouldn't have any stars.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not sure yet.

Any additional comments?

Don't waste your money

Jake is the worst

The. Worst. Bree was never my favorite O’Brian on the TV show, but I wouldn’t wish a love interest like Jake on anyone. He’s an immature man-baby with no ounce of compassion or interpersonal awareness. He held Bree’s leaving six years ago over her head the whole book, even though any decent person could understand why she’d leave after that trauma. And he didn’t trust her the JILLION times she said she didn’t want to go back to Marty! Plus, what do they have in common? Ugh. So glad to be done with this.

Terrible

A man Whining, complaining and throwing temper tantrums the entire book. I want to scream. This author was made out to be wonderful and I haven’t found anything redeeming yet. Not to mention the narrator is awful .

It was always this bad?

I read this book 8 years ago or so. I loved it! I've ready almost the entire series and have nothing but fond memories of it. I've started it over now and didn't mind the first book. But the story of Bree & Jake was always my favorite.

Well now with 8 more years on my life - I really didn't like this! I couldn't believe how insecure Jake is. It just got under my skin, especially after the 1000th time of him confronting Bree & then running away. Ugh - so glad this book finished, that was definitely the best part
