Leo lives in the basement of the Whippet Hotel, where his father works as a janitor. It's a strange place, full of eccentric guests, strange rooms, and even a gang of ducks. Leo loves exploring this wacky building, until the hotel's owner disappears. Once he's gone, the place begins to fall apart, and it's up to Leo to find what happened to Mr. Whippet and save his beloved home. Patrick Carman's novel is worthy of Roald Dahl, and Jesse Bernstein captures all the wit and whimsy with his playful and curious tone, inspiring a wide-eyed sense of joy and wonder.
Summary
The Whippet Hotel is a strange place full of strange and mysterious people. Each floor has its own quirks and secrets. Leo should know most of them - he is the maintenance man's son, after all. But a whole lot more mystery gets thrown his way when a series of cryptic boxes are left for him... boxes that lead him to hidden floors, strange puzzles, and unexpected alliances.
