Summary

Flawless is the first audiobook of its kind dedicated to exploring the main causes of faults in wine. From cork taint, to volatile acidity, to off-putting aromas and flavors, all wine connoisseurs have encountered unappealing qualities in a disappointing bottle. But are all faults truly bad? Are some even desirable?

Jamie Goode brings his authoritative voice to the table once again to demystify the science behind what causes a good bottle to go bad. By exposing the root causes of faults in wine, Flawless challenges us to rethink our assumptions about how wine should taste and how we can understand beauty in a glass.

Well written but read by AI

An interesting technical book but the narration was so bad I ended up buying it on paper. Sounds like it was being read by machine

Heavy going, save your money

I was very much looking forward to this book, being an avid follower of the authors work. The writing is very full on, packed with a lot of scientific jargon making it hard work, even to listen to! Especially when it's being read by Microsoft Sam! I had to skip the Brett section, listening to the monotonous repition the word was like pulling teeth!

I think for the average person interested in wine this book misses the mark, even dare I say for the wine professional, unless said professional has a degree in organic chemistry or has a deep understanding of winemaking, in which case they should already know most of that stuff.

I think maybe I would have enjoyed the book more in the form of a real book as to dip in and out of. But sadly the Audiobook for me failed to arouse any interest in subject matter that I should have found fascinating, if anything it did the opposite.
