Summary
There are many boys in the world, all slightly different from one another, and most of them are referred to by names. These are often John or Jack or Desmond, but sometimes they are James or Philip or Simon. Once, and once only, there was a boy whose name was Fizzlebert. Fizzlebert Stump lives in a travelling circus. But although he gets to hang around with acrobats, play the fool with clowns, and put his head in a lion's mouth every night, he's the only kid there - and he's bored. But then Fizz decides to join a library, and life suddenly gets a lot more exciting, when a simple library card application leads to him being kidnapped by a pair of crazed pensioners! Will he ever see the circus again?

Listen with caution
My son who's 6 really enjoyed this story. There are some funny moments which we all enjoyed but (as a parent) I was a bit disturbed by the main storyline being about how Fizzlebert gets kidnapped which gets a bit sinister in places. The author gets away with it, but only just. Hopefully any child listening to this will get the message about not talking to strangers.
The narrative style of the book is a bit annoying for grownups but it didn't seem to bother our son.
I'm not sure we'll be downloading the other Fizzlebert story on the strength of this one.

I'm going to try reading this book myself
After only an hour I've given up on this book and its truly irritating narration. The silly voices and constant overemphasis is like being bombarded with adverts for sweets and fizzy pop. I really can't tell you much about the story because the whole thing is BEING TOLD IN CAPITAL LETTERS!!
The book itself gets good reviews on Amazon so its sad for the author that the audio treatment is so bad.
