Summary

What happens if you meet the right person at the Wrong time?

Nell and Van meet as children when their parents fall in love, but soon they are forced worlds apart. Five years later, they find each other. Their bond is rekindled and new feelings take hold, but once again they have to separate. For the next two decades, fate brings Nell and Van together every five years, as life and circumstance continue to divide them. Will they ever find true happiness? And will it be together? ‘One day, maybe five years from now, you’ll look back and understand why this happened....’

Porth???? Where???

Enjoyed this book but kept being jolted back to reality everytime the narrator attempted to say Porthleven ... it is leven like eleven not leaven !!! As it is quite central to the story I wish this had been spoken correctly!

Apart from this a very enjoyable story.

Brilliant!

A cleverly written story, unfolding over a number of years and beautifully told. The intrigue of the story keeps the reader engaged right to the last page! Loved it! Highly recommended .

Disappointing - struggled to get to the end.

I'm Cornish (as are several generations of my family) so mispronounced place names really grate on me! Didn't warm to the narrator's voice, very 'matter of fact' in some places, whilst in others the falling pitch intonation at the end of each sentence, even those in speech, was very tedious. Sounded like the narrator was bored reading it in places.

amazing storyline

Nell and Van are thrown into each others lives by their parents love for each other.
they are not brother and sister and not half brother and sister,
age five they declare they will marry.
age ten years and vans mum dies much to early and van is sent to Australia to live with his dad.
every five years they meet up and every time obstacles are thrown in their paths to keep them apart.
will they ever get together?

Enjoyed the start and middle

the end was a bit protracted. I think the author was trying very hard not to make the end predictable.

asides from the end I found the story symmetric with the next generation almost about to live their lives like the previous two.

it's a good story, easy listen, lovable characters
