About this listen

First of My Kind is the story of Nathan Myers, a Missouri farm boy who, through a chain of events that happens halfway across the galaxy, finds his way from the seat of his Grandfather's tractor to the command of a starship from a lost super race.

Nathan will tell you in his own words about the life and death struggles he encounters on his journey. He will tell you about the humor, peril, and pain of his galactic education. Even with the help of an eccentric A.I. and the most unlikely of allies, he still finds it easy to lose his humanity to the horrors and injustice of a galaxy no one could have imagined.

Raymond de Campo has a good clear voice with distinct characters. Good job.

The story has been done before. Many times. But this retread is quite decent, if not entirely original. It is an easy listen. Good fun. A laugh here and there.

The first, setup chapters, were a gripping tale of survival. However once the alien spaceship appears the story goes downhill fast.

The protagonist, with no experience of anything, takes charge. Alien elite warrior? Protagonist gives orders and tactical advice which is followed and succeeds. Alien elite warrior pledges loyalty. His character convinces everyone he is the leader. All the good ideas come from him. Mary-Sue anyone?

That said, it was very easy to listen to as long as disbelief is checked in at the door

Well performed standard YA scifi tale

Absolutely brilliant story, great initial build up to get to know the MC, before boom aliens. Alien races that are not just humans with different skin colours, antennas or pointed ears. Combat is quick paced and brutal, great comedy and banter.

Epic Space Opera

I enjoyed the ride all the way through reminds me of mass effect. Galaxy space soap opera

Good solid storytelling

I'm half way through. Really enjoyed the first few chapters actually, (spoiler alert) then the American fellow started to get trigger happy with the ailiens. Killing and being the big man. Sure, justifications are made but fighting and killing is where we're at as of the half way point. First cuntact. Save the earth.

USA

Just a little too much US centric and weapons but good in spite of that

Good story and well written
