Story
As an environmental studies major, Allie knows the planet is in trouble - a series of natural disasters recently rocked the northern hemisphere, and species across the globe are going extinct. What Allie doesn't know is that her world's decline is a result of an ancient battle called the Night War - the Norse goddess Nott's crusade to control the weakest of the light realms. And Allie most definitely doesn't know that her existence is the only thing stopping Nott from dragging the earth into total darkness.

Story
Supernaturals are out of the closet but I have to stay hidden because of the type of magic I possess. I’m a Legacy. It sounds like the title should come with reverence, a trust fund, or at the very least a cool backstory—instead it comes with a death sentence. I have to hide in plain sight and pretend to be just human. I’m pretty good at it. I live a simple and somewhat normal life, and I work in antique acquisitions. Everything’s going fine until a dangerous and enchanted dagger that was once in my possession is stolen. I didn’t think things could get any worse until I woke up next to a dead shifter, fae, and mage, without any memory of the past twenty-four hours. Considered guilty of murder by most of the magical community and humans, I must work with Gareth, the sexy and dangerous leader of the Supernatural Guild.

I thought this would be a simple profiling case. Just another Jack the Ripper wannabe, prowling London’s streets, searching for easy kills. I was wrong. This killer is fae, and he’s as elusive as smoke on the wind. But I’m an FBI profiler, and it’s my job to track him down. It doesn’t matter that one of the main suspects - a lethally alluring fae - is trying to seduce me...or kill me, I’m not sure which. I won’t be stopped, not even when panic roils through the streets of London or when the police start to suspect me.

Summary
Crystal Frost tells herself she isn't crazy, but sane people don't see ghosts. As her psychic abilities manifest, Crystal discovers there's a much bigger story behind her mother's Halloween-themed shop than she ever realized. Now blessed with the ability to see into the future, witness the past, and speak with the dead, Crystal must use these tools to save those who have come to her for help.
But that's not an easy task between learning how to use her abilities, trying to hide them, and uncovering the secrets her loved ones have been keeping from her. Add blackmail to the list of things Crystal never thought would happen to her, and you basically have her sophomore year covered. Will she learn to control her abilities in time, or will the whole school learn of her secret before she's ready to reveal it?

A different coming of age story
Fire in Frost is a different coming of age story. We meet Crystal Frost, a young girl just trying to navigate through high school unscathed. Crystal is getting ready for one of her last volleyball games when she sees something that is just not possible. On top of that, she actually has a physical reaction because of it! No one else has the same experience and she ends up putting herself in a bad situation with her friends and some of her classmates.
Crystal then learns that there is more to this experience from her mom, and she is now set on a new life path forever. Has she learned enough fast enough to make a difference?
I love the narration, Kim Reiko is able to capture the essence of Crystal and her struggle though all of the changes in her life.
Crystal has a lot to learn about her gift and he also has a lot to learn about who to trust! Fire in Frost is a very interesting and engaging story. I am excited to see where her gifts take her!

Coming of Age Paranormal
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Crystal Frost is a likable character and the narration is excellent.
Any additional comments?
Crystal Frost may not be the most popular, or the most confident sophomore in school. In fact she may be going insane. She keeps seeing Olivia Owen, which wouldn’t be unusual except that Olivia died last year. When her mother tells her the truth about what really goes on in her divination shop, Crystal realizes that seeing dead people may be part of her gift. Now she has to decide if she can trust anyone with her secret.
Emma is Crystal’s best friend. Hey, if you can’t trust your best friend…? The bad news is, Emma wasn’t so quick to believe her friend had any special abilities, other than being a little crazy, which is to be expected. The worse news is, someone overheard. Someone who she would never trust with this big of a secret. Crystal’s life is about to get more complicated as she’s drawn by her inner compulsion to help those in need.
Alicia Rades delves into the world of teens dealing with difficult topics, including physical abuse. Crystal, the main character, learns who she is as she discovers her abilities and decides to use whatever she can to help the people around her. In this first book of the series she grows physically and emotionally as she navigates her new world.
I listened to this book on audio and found the narrator, Kim Reiko a joy to listen to.
Enticing YA fiction with an excellent mix of paranormal and real life.

Excellent Paranormal
I really, really liked this story. The author did a great job keeping me on the edge of my chair with a very thrilling story. The author provided a quality story that was full of suspense. I loved seeing Crystal learn her abilities and learning how to use them. The narrator did an excellent job with the characters and their personalities, as well as making the story as exciting as the author intended it. Looking forward to more Crystal and friends.

Enjoyable
If you could sum up Fire in Frost in three words, what would they be?
Great journey
What did you like best about this story?
The narrator did a great job in voicing in this book. The story was delivered in a way that was easy to follow without putting me to sleep. Despite the description of the book, I assumed there would be some sort of romance in this book (maybe it will come in book 2 perhaps?). Crystal is a very likable character who seems pretty normal other than the fact that she sees Dead people. What really helped me to enjoy this book was that Crystal used her powers for good and tried to help those around her. I am interested to see what happens in the second book.
Have you listened to any of Kim Reiko’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Awesome YA Paranormal!
Would you listen to Fire in Frost again? Why?
This was a great audio book! The narrator was easy to listen to and definitely added life and personality to the characters!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Crystal's character is intriguing from the very beginning when she sees a dead school-mate. I was drawn in to her own struggles of trying to figure out the how's and why's of her abilities.
What does Kim Reiko bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The voice of Kim gives the characters a personality, more than just reading the book on my own.

Great YA Paranormal
Ok you know how a book comes along just at the right time...this was that book. After reading a couple of long thick world building books, I needed a quicker paced character driven book, and this turned out to be it.
Great flawed but genuine main character Crystal discovers she can sense things other people can't. This leads her on a difficult and dangerous journey as she discovers her powers and learns who to trust. Highly entertaining first book in a series. I can't wait to read the next one.
Also I love the cover. It is so beautiful.
