Summary

Since the death of their mother, Josten Applewhite has done what he's had to do to take care of his little brother and keep their small family together. But in an instant, a stroke of bad luck tears down what little home he's managed to build, and Jos and Isaac end up on the streets.

That's where Officer Kip Rogers finds them, and even though he knows he should let the proper authorities handle things, he cannot find it in his heart to turn them away, going so far as to invite them to stay in his home until they get back on their feet. With the help of Kip and his friends, Jos starts to rebuild his life. But experience has taught him nothing comes for free, and the generosity seems too good to be true - just like everything about Kip.

Kip's falling hard for Jos, and he likes the way Jos and Isaac make his big house feel like a home. But their arrangement can't be permanent, not with Jos set on making his own way. Then a distant relative emerges, determined to destroy Jos's family, and Kip knows Jos needs him - even if he's not ready to admit it.

Really enjoyed the story

I do hope that other people enjoy listening to the story as much as I did, not a lot of sex but quite emotional

Layers and layers

This is the third book in the series by Andrew Grey. It has a bit of a mystery feel to it as you learn more about Jos and Isaac. Also both Jos and Kip suffer from inability to communicate feelings so that adds to the events.
As the story progresses, it is nice to see how Jos starts to come out of his shell and learn to do for himself once he realises that he has help and that help is not going away.
I was left wondering if Kip’s ex had a hand in getting Jos’s aunt involved or if she did just hire a PI to find Jos and Isaac. From the minute she appeared, it was evident that she had ulterior motives to being there. It was great to see Kip pull the rug from under her!
Carter and Donald from book 2 make an appearance as does Red and Terry. The author is great at keeping timelines straight so this flows on from the other books in the series.
This book gave me a bit more insight into the workings of a gay relationship more than the previous books did. It was well written without being overly graphic at the naughty bits. Overall it is a great romance that happens to be between 2 men.
