About this listen

His power rules the city—but she rules his heart.

Finn O’Reilly is stern, powerful, and confident. He oversees his hotel and his syndicate with a commanding presence and leadership, knowing any weakness could be used against him.

And he has none. Except Una Murphy. The woman he lost his heart to and still loves, even though she wants nothing to do with him.

Or so she claims.

When her life is in peril, he won’t stop until she is safe and back where she belongs—with him.

Can he rescue her?

Convince her to stay?

Will she be a part of his world, regardless of the danger, knowing she is safer with him than apart?

She is his world.

He simply needs to convince her.

It is good to be inside back in a “morally grey” world created by Melanie Moreland!

Finn, the first book in The Irishmen Duet took me a little bit by surprise. What I mean by that is that there isn’t much about the book that is a “surprise” and I would even go as far as saying it is “predictable” but despite those things, I was captivated and enraptured by not just the storyline but Finn & Una as well! 🎉SURPRISE!🎉 Feel me?! I was rooting for Finn & Una from the very beginning and their story made me happy for them and even though I knew what was coming, I still could not stop devouring their story! It’s a story of family, found and blood. It’s a story of love and its power of hope and will. It’s not a “long” story yet it’s thorough and developed perfectly. I loved the appearance of past characters and the set-up for Niell. I loved the emotion woven throughout every aspect of the story, both good and bad, and I loved that every circumstance had a purpose and was integral in the journey to the ❤️‍🔥sweet spot❤️‍🔥!

🎧I really enjoy both 🎙️John Lane & Maxine Mitchell🎙️’s voices and they make an excellent pairing! I’ve gotten to know their range and versatility quite well in the last few years due mostly to their performances of Melanie’s audiobooks. They bring something special to every character that they perform, and they do it superbly! 5 STAR performance to them both!

Finn is a man with two very different sides when it comes to the businesses he owns verses the mafia he runs. The same is true in his personal life when it comes to his love for Una and the way he treats anyone who crosses him. He and Una share a past that didn’t end well however that hasn’t diminished his feelings for her as he yearns for a second chance.

Even though Una is no longer with Finn he is still a large part of her life. She understands the mafia lifestyle however not only isn’t it not the life she wants she believes the best way to show Finn her love is to keep her distance. That is about to take a turn when she is the one who is being threatened, and Finn will do whatever is necessary to keep her safe.

Listening to John Lane portray Finn you could feel how protective and possessive he was while through Maxine Mitchell you could feel the loyalty and strength of Una. The love that they share is unbreakable despite all the forces that try to threaten it.

Finn O’Reilly is the absolute swooniest and that is definitely saying something since this author seems to specialize in swoony heroes.
Finn is the ultimate protective, alpha hero. Adoring Una even when she pushes him away.

“I want your love, your laughter, your body. I want your world to begin and end with me.”

I both read the ebook and listened to the audiobook of this one and loved both BUT the narration was so amazing that if (who am I kidding… when) I go back for a reread it’s 100 percent going to be on audio!!

“Finn O’Reilly was my home. His embrace was my soft landing.
And I never wanted to leave it.”

The absolute Swooniest!!

A great mafia romance with all the intrigue and protective hero vibes. The intrigue was intense and kept you in the edge of your seat. Moreland has once again created a world I want more from. Finn O’Reilly is all broody, head over heels and sinfully delicious. That Irish flair that you can’t help but fall for. Morally grey in all the right ways. Oona is the typical big sister persona you’d expect despite being the youngest child. She oozed caretaker energy, which makes her the perfect person to care for Finn. That caretaker persona makes betrayal hurt so much more. The mafia family created a world of protection and loyalty. Enticing introduction to Niall and I’m eager for his next story.

John Lane’s Irish accent is enough to make you melt into this story. The strength and passion read with a beautiful intensity. Maxine Mitchell was lovely as Oona. She has a soft yet strong voice that easily played into the contrast of strength and vulnerability of the story. They were a wonderful combo to listen to.

A great mafia romance
