About this listen
Thoreau Jones, 15, has had a terrible life since his older brother left Gray Shadows. His parents constantly remind him that it's his fault Emerson took off, just like it's his fault for being "retarded." If only his brain wasn't so broken, Mommy Daddy wouldn't have to "fix" him every day or keep him locked in a cage in the attic.
When his parents finally give up on him, they ship him off to Five Fangs with the warning that Emerson will either keep him or kill him. Thoreau knows his brother won't want him and can only hope that his death will be quick. However, it isn't death that awaits the sweet boy at Five Fangs, and the Moon Goddess has more blessings in store for him than he could have ever imagined…

this story is so different, a teenager with the mind of a younger child, cruelly abused by disappointed parents. finally released to live happily with his brothers pack. there are lgbt couples, good witches, and a host of side characters who add to the intricate life of several packs.
but mostly I found happiness, in being with kind all inclusive community who take care of each other with love, as one family.
the two narrators are excellent, a wide range of voices and accents, they helped follow the many human and animal interactions.
