Summary

When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his 21st birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn't interested in his usual "hit it and quit it" approach. But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won't change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn't recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn't be a total shock. The fact that he's her new roommate's brother? That's a shock.

Dani doesn't regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother's "type" of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened.

Jax knows he's walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he's off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can't seem to care. About anything...except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams. Despite Jax's fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister's friend, he can't stay away from her, even if that means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work - realities that can end Dani's college career and lies that can tear them apart. Jax realizes what he's losing if Dani walks away, but will he sacrifice his future to be with her? And will she let him if he does?

Another good one

Good listen and well worth the credit.
I wasn't ready for it to end. This book is complete enough but I would have liked it more if Jax dealt with his pass and mother. After listening to the first book in the series the bar was set high for me. I was really excited that this one was from a 2 person POV but it seemed to lack the details that did not include the other character. With that said it's still a good story I just didn't get emotionally invested in what each character was going through and feeling.

Packs some emotional punches!

What an incredible book! I was not expecting quite this level of emotion but holy cat’s was it ever worth the ride!

I thought I’d loved Clementine and Gavin from Dearest Clementine, and I did, don’t get me wrong, but there was something about Jax and Dani that just took it to the next level for me. Maybe it’s as simple as the fact that I am powerless against a reformed bad boy. Maybe it’s just that their story was so lovely, full of sparky banter and playful flirting. Maybe it’s that my heart can’t resist these emotional punches no matter how bruised it winds up in the end.

In any case, I adored this story! And it was another delightful auditory experience as well. The narration was flawless and I lost myself in it for hours at a time. Definitely recommend!

Enjoyable story

This was a great book 3/4 of the way through. It dragged some at the end after the two finally got together, but well worth a credit. Loved the narration!

Another Homerun With This Book!

Lex Martin did it again! She created two amazing characters who you love and want their HEA. We get a glimpse of Jax and Dani in The first book of the series. In this book, you understand why Jax became a heartless “player” and why Dani was so insecure. Their story is sweet. I got lost in this story, and shed so many tears. It’s almost as if I want to reach in the book and hug the both of them.

Nelson and Arielle’s performance was what made a great book even better. Arielle put so much emotion into Dani, that there was one scene in which I had tears streaming down my face. She was able to use so many different voices for so many different characters, and even the voices she used for the male characters were awesome. Not many people have the talent to do that.

There were many “mature” moments in the book, but it wasn’t over the top. Lex allowed Jax and Dani to form a human connection before anything else happened.

I cannot wait to see what Lex does with Darin’s story.

Oh Jaxx

This book was enjoyable. I liked the narration. Their is one thing I just don’t like and it’s the story line of the player boy who never wants a relationship sleeps with every girl he meets, turned into the “yep I want to be her husband” type. I feel like this is over done in story lines and just not realistic. With that sad I still liked this story and was happy I listened to it!

Both characters were well portrayed. I liked seeing the different POV. Tbh in most stories I hate going back and fourth but it worked really well for this and gave us a better rounded picture.

Over all good performance and story.
