Some pasts are doomed to be repeated.

Seventeen-year-old Dominique thinks her life is over when she’s forced to move across the country during her senior year. All she wants to do is make it to graduation, and then she can move back to Michigan for college. That's the plan. That is, until her new neighbor pressures her into playing a mystical card game.

And this deck is like no other.

With one touch of the cards, Dominique plunges into a vision of a crimson desert inhabited by a dark presence with murderous intent. She desperately tries to convince herself it’s all in her head, but the images refuse to be ignored. And when the apparitions include hints of past lives, Dominique realizes the darkness is really after her. Not only in her visions, but also in her reality. If she’s to survive, she must discover the secrets hidden in her past. If she doesn’t she’ll be dead. For real.

In this book we're introduced to Dominique. She's a 17 year old girl, whith a destiny she couldn't imagine. Sometimes she's a bit annoying (but at 17 who wasn't?!), but she fights to achieve what she needs to do). I think the plot is interesting and I hope we see Dominique growing up (and her parents opening up with her). Looking forward to the second book ^^

I received a free audio copy from the author for an honest review :)

I liked the storyline but I do wish that Dominique was a little more mature for the story but I suppose she's supposed to be that way. I was not a fan of the narrartor. I'd recommend this book but more for a younger age group.

17 year old Dominique has lived her life ,many times but up to now she’s never known. She’s never known the people that are coming into her life however they have known her many times over . With her life set to end again can she unlock the secrets and put an end to this constant cycle. I really enjoyed listening but I’m not happy there’s no more of the series on audio 🙁

This story is fast paced and intriguing. Whilst the narrator was not my favourite and a little annoying at times, she does suit the uncertain and naive Dominque.

Intriguing and unusual story
