Lights. Camera. Murder.
The last thing Jess wants to do is watch the film that ended her mother’s career — and her life. Once a beloved ’90s scream queen, Rachel Watson’s final role in The Scream Queen’s Reckoning became notorious after she died on set, going into premature labour, and the planned third film in the series was scrapped.
But when the University Film Society chooses the cursed cult classic for its Hallowe’en screening, Jess has no choice but to sit alone in the crumbling campus theatre’s projection booth — she’s the only one who knows how to operate the equipment.
As the reels turn and the screen flickers to life, Jess watches her mother — playing Eleanor, the bookish prom-night survivor — struggle to stay alive. Soon, the deaths on screen begin repeating themselves in real life.
Now Jess must follow in her mother’s blood-stained footsteps to uncover the truth and survive a killer obsessed with recreating their favourite horror film off-script.
A sharp, suspenseful homage to slasher cinema — where legacy is lethal, and the credits don’t always roll before the final scream.
