This’s my first audible book, I started this book while travelling a long journey and found very easy to listen to, loads of information, very well explained, going to the point on the subject, useful advices. If you got a reactive dog this is the book you need to understand your dog and help him in a very kind way. I believe the author wrote this book soulful as she own a reactive dog herself. Brilliant book

As a professional I love finding books that my owners can listen to. Methods must be ethical and agree with my non aversive ethos. Jay hit the nail on the head sharing her experiences as a reactive dog owner who has extended her knowledge by becoming a professional. Disappointed with the narrator, didn't enjoy how he read the book.

If you are looking for a book that gives step by step instructions for "fixing" a reactive dog, this is NOT it. What it is is a book that delves into how dogs learn, how genetics and the environment affects them and why these are important when dealing with reactivity. It is a well-researched and well-put together book.

Unfortunately the narration was not up to the same standard for me - I found sentence and word emphasis to be wildly out on occasion, which was a shame as it often occurred at important points in the book. The book itself though is very good and recommended for anyone who wants to understand reactivity.

I really enjoyed this - definitely recognised a lot of things in this book having owned a dog who has been reactive in the past.

I'd recommend it to people who either have a reactive dog, or just want to learn more about the behaviour of dogs.

Great book

I have read lots of books about the practical side of owning a reactive dog, and this is one of the first I have read that deals mainly with the emotional side on the human end of the lead. It’s full of fantastic advice, both emotional support and practical ideas about how best to help your reactive dog.

At times it made me feel quite emotional, hearing that other people seem to be going through exactly the same thing as I am, as it can seem very lonely having a reactive dog and all that you do to manage it. You can feel quite isolated.

I sped the narration up to 1.25 as I found it a little slow, and this speed fitted me better.

A wonderful book, I highly recommend to those both with and without a reactive dog as it’s also helpful for anyone to understand what it might be like to own a reactive dog and how to avoid it in their own dog if they have one.

Fantastic handbook
