Publisher's Summary

Zack Bartell is a strong, determined Texan who knows what he wants and is willing to fight for it. What he wants most in life is Meredith Courtland and a chance to develop his share of the family ranch at Bridleton.

Meri has experienced the deep heartache of a lost love. She’s emotionally wary and unwilling to risk her safe, secure position at Bridleton by having an affair with the incredibly desirable Bartell heir despite the fact that he’s a walking, breathing temptation.

But when her volunteer work with wounded veterans tangles the threads of their relationship, they work together to defuse the ominous threat to their lives and happiness.

I really enjoyed this story it is a lovely old fashioned romance with manners. I especially liked the fact it talked about the debt owed to the veterans that have given so much to serve their country.

"A nice addition to the series!"

This book starts out in a bar, with one of the main characters more than a little tipsy. That kind of surprised me, but I think it enabled Zach and Meredith's relationship to get off the ground. It might have been hard to make it happen otherwise, because Meredith was so determined to keep employer/employee boundaries in place. I got it.
I liked the fact that Zach didn't see the fact that Meredith worked for his family on the family ranch as an inhibitor to pursuing a lifelong relationship with her. He sure had to work hard to convince her!
The suspense in the book came in the form of someone stalking Meredith and it having something to do with her military husband's death. As the wife of a wounded warrior with PTSD, I always appreciate details dealing with the condition. It was also impossible to figure out what was actually going on.One of my favorite parts of the book was actually when Zach and Meredith went to visit with wounded warriors and Zach recognized a female soldier that he had gone to high school with. His reaction to her and his actions were a huge step to getting her out of the PTSD depression--if only for a few minutes. I loved that scene!
The narration by Johnny Peppers was wonderful as always. He definitely gives the western flare to the story.

    "Loved The Story"

I loved the story. Zack came out swinging in his bid to get the girl. She was super resistant due to her past. then a stalker comes on the scene and creates havoc to further complicate them getting together. But Zack knows what he wants and is willing to do what it takes to get it. Hoo Rah. I liked the PTSD inclusion and especially when Zack meets one of his former classmates and brings her out of her self-imposed issues. She is a war victim who not only was injured but her husband was killed by the same bomb. he grabs her from her chair and dances her around the room. This caused her to remember why they were dance partners and she laughs for the first time since the bomb. She also accepts a job at the ranch. Sorry for the mini spoilers. I usually don't write them but they should help you want to listen to the book. It is less than six hours long but filled with what it takes to make a good story. A little too much easy sex for me but what can I say. The narrator fit the story well and brought each scene to life. Wish I had the privilege of listening to the first two. I got this book via audiobook boom and voluntarily wrote this review.

    "3 1/2 Stars"

It was enjoyable, I did have to restart and listen again after a few chapters because I'm afraid I zoned out. But once I did I enjoyed it, this narrator sounds very familiar to me and I really like his voice.

    "Romance and Intrigue"

This book is written by an author whom is new to me and performed by a new narrator for me. I enjoyed this book, and thought it was well written. This book has suspense, chemistry, hot sex and some humor. Part of the book deals with PTSD, which is easily misunderstood. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher.

    Zack's Ranch: Bridleton, Book 3
    : Becky Barker

This is book 3 in this series, unfortunately I missed out on the first two. I will go back when I have more time and get them. I liked the mystery, suspense, romance and especially the PTSD and wounded vets.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Johnny Peppers.

    Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom. I have actually listened to book two in this series and enjoyed it and the characters. I haven't had a chance to listen to book one as of yet, but I was happy to find that I could listen to book two and now three without reading/listening to book one. Jonny Peppers does a great job bringing the characters and story to life. I enjoyed book two, but I think I liked book three even better. It gave me all the feels and had plenty of mystery and intrigue to keep my attention and wanting more. This audiobook is a great listen.

    "Well written story"

I was gifted this audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author/narrator.
I enjoyed Zack's Ranch by Becky Barker and liked the way she made Zack and Meredith's story. The suspense started slowly and built to a crescendo at the end. The epilogue was very satisfying and wrapped the story without a bunch of unnecessary words.
The narration By Johnny Peppers was well done. He made the story come alive. I would Highly recommend this audio book.

    "Good story, wrong narrator."
If you could sum up Zack's Ranch in three words, what would they be?

Zack knows what he wants. The book starts out with Zack spotting her in the bar and getting the girl as the ball dropped while warding off another guy.

If you’ve listened to books by Becky Barker before, how does this one compare?

This is the first book I have listened to by Becky Barker. The storyline is good. I felt like I had missed something because I have not read the other books in the series. I do like hot and sexy and the book starts out showing Zacks interest and hot and sexy starts out in chapter one. Beckys writing is good, and I like her descriptive ability.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Johnny Peppers?

Definitely not Johnny Peppers. He made it hard to listen to the book. I think a different narrator would have been a big improvement.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I started and stopped the book several times but that was because of the narrator.

    Any additional comments?

I was given this book free of charge for a honest review by the author. Thank you for the opportunity to review this book.
