Publisher's Summary

Trinity Morris, cofounder of You're Not Alone, has a domestic violence past that still haunts her 10 years later. She is devoted to helping victims find freedom and to sharing information on how to help them through their emotional and violent trials.

While Trinity is presenting at a seminar, she comes across Gavin, a police officer who knows her past all too well. It's been 10 years since he last saw her, but the moment Gavin's eyes land on her, he's intent on getting to know the woman who has haunted his dreams all these years.

Can Gavin break through the wall that Trinity has built around herself, or will the present and the past collide and take her away from him again?

Yes. This was a brilliant book. Any fans of romance should enjoy this book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The book is full of great, strong characters. I really liked Gavin as he was understanding and non judgemental of women in abusive situations.

What does Maria Marquis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I loved how she performed the male and female characters so realistically.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I couldn't put this book down and spent as much time as I could listening in a few sittings.
the story was fast paced and suspenseful. I enjoyed Gavin and Trinity's story arc. Their shared history made their friendship and burgeoning romance that more interesting.

"Victims of domestic violence do not have to suffer alone"

I had already read this book, which is a fantastic read, as Stacy Eaton is a retired cop and so brings realism into her harrowing storyline. And although I have listened to a few audio books, they have all previously been male narrators. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy listening to a female...how wrong I was. Maria Marquis does a fantastic job, and kept my attention all the way through. Her intonation and pitch is spot on, and she had me chuckling a few times, especially when narrating a child's words. I will definitely listen to more books narrated by Ms Marquis. Great job!

    "About Surviving"
What was one of the most memorable moments of You're Not Alone?

This book takes a difficult subject domestic abuse and turns it into an emotional, romantic, suspense story full of hope
It s Stacy's story and has clearly drawn on her experience as a police officer and her work with her local domestic violence centre. The e main character in the book uses to let delegates understand the impact of domestic violence are so insightful. The story is told from different aspects but still focuses on surviving.

Would you consider the audio edition of You're Not Alone to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed the audio version, but have not read the print version, so I can't say.

What other book might you compare You're Not Alone to and why?

Distorted Loyalty by Stacy Eaton and Whether I'll Live or Die by Stacy Eaton. Her books are very emotional and gritty. She doesn't shield or hide the reality of ordinary people's lives. It's always an emotional ride and you learn something by experiencing it through her character's eyes.

Have you listened to any of Maria Marquis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not listened before, but I loved this performance. The only thing that confused me at the beginning was that the first-person male part was also read by her, but later on, I got used to it and was able to figure out who was speaking.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not wanting to spoil the story, but the last struggle was very moving. Also, when Trinity discovers she's a passionate woman and capable of loving and being loved. She was so scarred by the abuse she received from Brendan.

    Any additional comments?

Gavin is a hero anyone could love. He is truly a knight in shining armor, but also has a dark backstory which makes him understand and empathize with Trinity and others who were abused. The book was focused on Trinity, so we didn't get much of Gavin, but I hope there would be another story that goes into his struggles and overcoming abuse. Maybe a prequel?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes

    Any additional comments?

A very tough subject to throw in with a romance. Stacy's able to use a fiction romance and impart valuable information about domestic violence. This book drags you in right away and holds you there. For anyone who has ever thought "how can this happen?" or "would never happen to me" this books explains how it can happen to anyone. This is a great read - emotional without being cloying - tackle a tough subject with grace. Emotions are all over the place in this one.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The narrator was a pleasure to listen to and held my attention. Something few audio books are able.

What was one of the most memorable moments of You're Not Alone?

Honestly, the whole novel is captivating. Having read the novel previously, I was looking for gaps and other areas that might take away from the audiobook. None were found and I enjoyed the audio book.

Have you listened to any of Maria Marquis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to her before. She is better than some other narrators I have heard.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The resolution where the main characters are able to come to an understanding with one another and are able to come together in a positive and supportive way.

    "Touching and wonderful survival story"

This book, as the description mentions, focuses on Trinity, a domestic violence survivor and now an advocate, and the officer that saved her years ago, Gavin. Ten years have passed since Gavin rescued Trinity from her abusive ex-husband when they just happened to bump into each other at a seminar. What they don't know is that both have secretly held feeling for the other all of these years. Gavin has a past of his own as well. This is the story of two somewhat broken souls finding each other and they journey to heal together.

The subject of domestic violence is handled really, really well in this book and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It moved along at a great pace and the secondary characters in the story fit in perfectly. Maria Marquis did a great job with the narration as well. What can I say? This was just a really pleasant listen. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

"Great Story of Triumph Over Abuse"

I loved this story! Trinity has gone from victim to survivor and is determined to help other women in her past predicament. She is a strong, confident woman and will not be deterred in her mission.

I liked that this seemed to be a very realistic depiction of domestic abuse victims. Some of the women were very resolute about not being victimized again, while others had yet to find their inner strength. I also recognize that there are men in society that will never have any respect for women, even some police officers. This can make it even more difficult for women to escape violent and potentially dangerous relationships. This story, although a romance, was also an insightful look into the world of abuse and our attempts (and sometimes failures) to protect the abused. Maria Marquis did a great job with the narration, both with the male and female voices. You're Not Alone was a wonderfully written, impactful story and I would highly recommend it.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is my honest opinion.

    Story
    "emotional"

An emotional and heartfelt story dealing with domestic abuse. Being a survivor too, I could relate to the characters and feel their pain, also rejoice when they got out and started healing. There is always hope, I think the message of this book is clear. Loved the main characters and how they got their second chance at HEA. Trinity's seminars were really interesting, how she explained the effects of abuse to those who never experienced was brilliant. Gavin's patience and understanding was admirable, I guess because of his background also working in the police forces gave him first hand knowledge of the cause and effect of violent behaviour.
Ms. Marquis' voice is pleasant, warm and emotional as the story needed it that was great for the female voices, not so much for the male characters though.

I was given this free audiobook at my request and this review is voluntary.
