Summary

The Hidden Legacy series by New York Times best-selling author Ilona Andrews continues as Nevada and Rogan navigate a world where magic is the norm...and their relationship burns hot.

Nevada Baylor has a unique and secret skill - she knows when people are lying - and she's used that magic (along with plain hard work) to keep her colorful and close-knit family's detective agency afloat. But her new case pits her against the shadowy forces that almost destroyed the city of Houston once before, bringing Nevada back into contact with Connor "Mad" Rogan.

Rogan is a billionaire Prime - the highest rank of magic user - and as unreadable as ever, despite Nevada's talent. But there's no hiding the sparks between them. Now that the stakes are even higher, both professionally and personally, and their foes are unimaginably powerful, Rogan and Nevada will find that nothing burns like ice.

A little too convoluted at times

I am an Ilona Andrews fan and will always try anything written by this partnership. I don't think I've yet found a book I don't like, though some series are better than others. The magic in the Hidden Legacy series is vague, rather illogical and lacks depth, unlike in the Kate Daniels world but still creates an interesting setting. I found the plot overcomplicated and the sex scenes so tedious I skipread but really enjoyed the characters, their development and the elements of humour in the book. Renee Raudman is a brilliant narrator and perfect for the Andrews series.

Keeps getting better!

Having thoroughly enjoyed the first book I couldn't wait to listen to the second instalment and it didn't disappoint!

The story seems to intensify in this book and flowed seamlessly from book 1.

Plenty of magic, power, passion, twists and turns. Exactly what I hoped for in this book.

Download it now, you won't regret it. :)

It gets better and better.

Since I loved the first book so much I was worried how this would match up. Thankfully, there was nothing to worry about. Fast paced and unpredictable, just as I like them.

Good book but not as good as previous from author

I am a huge fan of this author and was ready to download the book when it was released. It is a good book, however it is closer to erotica than previous books and to me that did not fit with the series.
I am ok with that genre but feel like the line of flirtatious fantacy is far superiour and made this author stand out above the rest. Hope they find it again in future books.

Alone Andres is one of my favourite writers in the whole world

Once again another amazing book by ilona andrews and brilliantly read by Renée Rodman can't believe you left us hanging I'm desperately awaiting the next book you have me and my sister addicted please keep writing because you are the bomb. This book was so much more intense than the last one leaving me biting my nails and desperately screaming for her to keep going all your books are amazing your women are powerful strong but also gentle someone you can love which I do. All your books are written with such depth you can really imagine yourself being there your side characters are amazing and funny and when something happens with them it's like it's happening to you just like when that happens to the main characters please please please never stop writing Ilona Andrew you are my favourite author in the world. Thank you for your books. X

Super entertaining, unsure on narrator!

Would you consider the audio edition of White Hot to be better than the print version?

No, I read the first book and wish I'd read the second one. I had a hard time with the narrator, I thought she did a good job but her voice was way too mature for the character. At several points I thought she sounded in her late 50's which didn't make sense for a 20 something main character. I found her male voice for Mad Rogan to be a little silly, he sounded a bit like an aging cowboy.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the quirkiness of all the characters and the world building. Ilona Andrews never disappoints with a full cast of unique and interesting characters with a solid world. The house system was well developed, the fight scenes had great pacing and the intimate scenes caused some good blushing!

What does Renee Raudman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have a hard time leaving a bad review because I genuinely think Renee is a good narrator, just not for this book. I don't want to nitpick, my main thought is just that her voice is too matronly for a 20 something character. A few times when Nevada exclaimed or gasped aloud (rather than us hearing her internal dialog) she had a bit more of a higher, more breathy voice which I thought was a little more realistic.

Better than the first

Let me start by saying I love everything Ilona Andrews writes. Any of their series you pick up will be amazing. This series is no different. Nevada is snarky, loyal, fierce and can shoot her enemies with precision or break their minds with her magic. Mad Rogan got his nickname because he will do anything he has to to win, and his enemies shudder at his name. Love can make you vulnerable, and neither Nevada nor Rogan do vulnerable very well. When an enemy kills Rohan's people and leaves Nevada's client a widower and a single father they will stop at nothing to avenge the fallen. It means working together and dealing with their own issues. It means realizing they can't live without each other, even if they constantly drive each other mad.
As always Renee Raudman does an incredible job narrating this book. I look forward to hearing her voice Ilona Andrew's amazing characters flawlessly. She is insanely talented. She is one of my absolute favorite narrators. You will not be disappointed!
Happy listening!

White Hot

Might contain spoilers!

Where to start...hmm well I certainly loved it! I wasnt sure how I was going to like it or if I'd get pissed off and quit reading after the first few chapters. There was a drastic change. I didnt necessarily like it because I think it took away from Connor's original character in book 1. They made him sorta nice! Not horribly so but it was a noticeable change and I had my doubts it would work. Now about 30-40% into it I did feel the old Connor so I felt ok about the change at that point. I mean come on we love our crazy psycho men! When you try and change them we recoil. Just sayin. Anyways, Nevada. I loved her in book 1 and well her flaws definitely came out more this time around. She's very hardheaded and stubborn and lets it rule her sometimes much to my dislike. She was bitchy at times towards Connor. Yes, he what he did was kind of underhanded but for a good reason just should have done it differently. Reason he did it though is because if he actually came to her about it she would have said no and be stubborn about it even at the expense of her family's safety. Hardheaded. Cornelius and Matilda awww I did really like Cornelius. He's a bit reserved but we get to find out all sorts of things about him. Augustine is very much in this book and we get to know him more. Things are not resolved in this book as far as the enemy goes. However, things turn for Connor and Nevada for the better. Leon...her 15 year old brother was hilarious. Catalina...whoa she's got some magical chops! I had some definite laugh out loud moments in this book. I wanted to strangle some people like Nevada once or twice. I really did love it though. I do think in the next book its gonna be big.

Hard to follow - too many characters

I enjoy these authors and have read most of their books with enjoyment. The author(s) have created a rich world filled with action, magic, and conflict. The main characters are sassy and fun to read about – with a great group of supporting family characters.
I found this series and in particular this book very hard to follow. The big revel of the villain came I spent the rest of the book in frustration never knowing who the bad guy (or gal) was. I had a name, but with all the cast of characters – houses, allies, families, soldiers and officials I could never track who that person was. I even went back through the book looking for the introduction of the name, but could not find it again. Turned out it was a family member of a very insignificant character; finally figured this out in book three. In written form the author can provide help with this by giving you a who’s who list – harder to do with an audio book.
With that being said, I really enjoyed this series of books and the ending was left open for more. Enjoy.

Absolutely love Nevada and Rogan!

One of the best paranormal romances series. No constant reminders of anxiety and insecurities. A confident heroine with integrety. A complex hero with a strategic mind. However, some might be put off by the graphic violence. Love this series because while it's action packed my intelligence is not insulted. No female angst resulting in disaster requiring the hero to save her from the most stupid idiotic situations. The reader is spared from irrational emotions blinding heroine to obvious danger . The wry humor had me laughing out loud. This is a love story that would appeal to adults that don't require the lovers being insipid, insecure, unhappy, tortured people who are self destructive. These lovers are very confident, strong willed, intelligent, attractive, deadly and very loyal to family. The story line is intricate and violent which requires the reader's full attention.
