Summary

Sheila O'Flanagan is the best-selling author of The Missing Wife and My Mother's Secret, and her new best seller What Happened That Night, with its enticing story of mothers, daughters and lovers, will enchant listeners who love the novels of Marian Keyes and Lisa Jewell.

Lola has a plan. She's going to escape the village she grew up in and make it in the big city. She's smart enough - but she's also headstrong. When, one evening, she has to make a life-changing choice, she decides quickly, and without the full facts. But there's no way back.

Bey is every bit her mother's daughter. An impulsive decision puts her in the path of great danger. She's left wary of trusting her own judgement ever again. Then, one night, she's standing in front of the man she loves, with her own choice to make.

For both women, everything changes in a moment. But their biggest mistakes might also turn out to be their greatest opportunities....

Beautiful

Makes you feel angry, happy, giddy, like crying, smiling, laughing. Lots of character building and emotions wrapped up in one audio book. I was hooked from the beginning.

Long and drawn out!

Good story a bit different! Could have been a lot shorter, good narration which helped me listen to the end!

Not for me

I hated this book; the characters are two dimensional and predictable, the storyline similar. The hugely successful and attractive protagonist who has to be repeatedly reminded to be confident and who constantly questions her worth and judgments was just to steeped in cliché to be believable. The narration is excellent but the story is dull and pedestrian.

A bit predictable....

I recently listened to another Sheila O’Flanagan novel The missing wife and really enjoyed it. This story seemed to take a long time to get going and I struggled to identify with any of the characters. The narration by Aoife McMahon was again like many of the books I have listened to she is featured in was exceptional.

doesn't seem to go anywhere...

Wasn't a fan. It seemed to go nowhere and the narrator's accents were pretty diabolical to the point of being infuriating.

Great Read

I absolutely loved this book. One of her best. Interesting story moving from Dublin to Spain. Saga written over a number of years. Sheila is a great author most of her books are the same, just fantastic.
