Summary

Sequel to Tigerland

Young Australian Micah Johnson is the first AFL player to be out at the beginning of his career. Retired professional football player Declan Tyler mentors Micah, but he finds it difficult, as Micah is prone to making poor life choices that land him in trouble. Nothing Dec can't handle. He's been there, done that, more times than he'd like to admit. Being Simon Murray's partner all these years has Dec quite experienced in long-suffering and mishaps.

As usual, Simon thinks everything is going along just fine until his assistant, Coby, tells him a secret involving an old nemesis. Simon and Dec's problems mash together, and to solve them, they must undertake a 1000-kilometer round trip in which issues will have to be sorted out, apologies are finally given, and a runaway kid is retrieved and returned to his worried parents.

Love the story

Having read the whole of this series I was invested in the characters already, I really enjoy Sean Kennedy's writing; the dialogue is believable, full of humour and its what makes these books for me.
Some of the wittiness was lost with the narration which at times is quite stilted or delivered in a way that I just didn't feel fitted the situation or broke the momentum in quick, funny exchanges between multiple characters. The voice he uses for women is almost comical, making them all sound about 80 years old it's jarring on younger characters like Fran and Emma. Overall though it's still a good listen and if you enjoy the series as I do it's worth a shot.

Wonderful book

What did you like most about Tigers on the Run?

I love the characters, Simon and Dec, the humour and the feeling of a 'real' relationship and their friends. Rich language, sexy, brilliant.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Simon, how could you not like someone so spiky and vulnerable at the same time. He's just so sarcastic it's very easy to relate to him.

Which character – as performed by Dave Gillies – was your favourite?

Simon again, but I have got used to the narrator now, I wasn't sure I liked him for these stories but he's grown on me.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I can't think of anything which would be witty enough

Any additional comments?

I love Sean Kennedy's stories, I love the fantastic humour, the sexiness of the books without being graphic, the way in which the characters express their feelings, I am a total fan girl and any more Simon and Declan would be an automatic buy for me.
