Publisher's Summary

Me: My childhood was stolen by a monster. I've forgotten what love feels like. What happiness feels like. What hope feels like. I am numb.

Him: He's possibly as damaged as I am. Maybe even more. Scarred just as much on the inside as the outside. Just like me. He doesn't speak. He doesn't smile. He hides in the woods like an animal. I should be scared of him, but I'm not. He's the only one that has ever made me feel. And I want to make him feel, too. Everything....

    "Love this book"

I really enjoyed this book and was sad when it was over. The whole subject is fairly taboo but is very well written and simply brilliant. The narrators are perfect to. I look forward to Carians future books

    "A very dark Cinderella story."

Carian Cole doesn't just tell a story, but rather takes you on a realistically beautiful journey. I own every book available by this author on audible and can't wait for more. This author's way of really humanizing her characters is like nothing I've ever experienced while listening to a book before. Life and the people in it aren't always a pretty fairy tale and she captures that good and evil balance perfectly. I also love that all of Carian's book's include animal rescues. By always weaving this subject matter in the stories she writes brings awareness to the furry friends that so desperately need our help. Carian, is one of the best story tellers of her time. She has a unique way of making you understand her complex characters, describing the scenes without unnecessary information, and wrapping her endings up in a believable way. Everything is balanced so nicely. I hope her writing style never changes.

Now on to the spoiler free review. Tyler is a hermit in the woods. An outcast from society his physical scars make it hard for him to go in public because of the stares and judgement he receives. He's content with his solitary life spending time creating beautiful things and rescuing animals. One day he rescues Holly from a horrific situation. Misunderstandings about that day changes things for both of them. Flash forward year's later.. Holly feels like no one can completely understand her and what she's endured. The one thing she never forgot about that night was the prince who saved her. When the universe puts these soul mates back in each others path's they only find comfort from their abnormal lives when they are spending together. They give one another the courage to heal. She see's the real man behind the scare's and he soothes her PTSD. Love and intimacy blossom very slowly because Tyler is respectful, patient and cautious of her past. The prologue was absolutely wonderful!! It made me want to hear more.

I think Ava and Guy did a great job making this memorably mesmerizing story even better. This book was not only worth the credit, but the wait. It was certainly more than I anticipated and my expectations were high. *Now a little warning* this book does deal with heavy subject matter like alcohol, drugs, death, and child abuse. I hope this doesn't discourage anyone from listening because you will be so absorbed you won't be able to pause it. Even though there are a couple of beautifully written sex scenes between Holly and Tyler the main focus of this book is not the sex. It's about two broken people finding everlasting love.

"Great Romance, Great Story - Kept Me Entertained"
Have you listened to any of Ava Erickson and Guy Locke ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Narration was excellent. Both Ms Erickson and Mr. Locke gave each character a unique voice with appropriate emotional inflection. It was such a pleasure that I will likely look for books where they are listed as narrators. Authors, do you get to choose who narrates your books? Choose wisely, it can make or break a series in my opinion. These two are winners. I only wish Audible made it easier to follow narrators as well as authors....

    Any additional comments?

Now that you know the narration is top notch, it is up to the author to bring it home, and she did. What a beautiful and unique story. I liked the fact that I did not have to experience the abuse the main character suffered and all its distasteful details. We got enough to understand. I was engaged throughout the entire story as the romance developed. The attraction grew and eventually led to steam but this not a story built around sex scenes (thank goodness, we have had enough of insta-love, smut, no story line - it leaves me hollow) I definitely recommend and will watch for additions to the series.

    "So worth the wait!!!"

If you are looking for hot and heavy sexy scenes this is not the book for you. However, if you are interested in a really well written, original story, with a slow burn so hot and strong you won't even miss it, then you should get this book right now! This is an amazing love story!

"LOVED IT SO MUCH, I NEED MORE!"

I have read all of Carian's books except for the most recent but this is definitely in my top 3 favorites of hers! The depth and complexity of her stories never cease to amaze me. So many emotions that you have no choice but to get sucked in. She always seems to find new realistic ways to shed light on real life situations that not many authors do well. All of her books could have been someone's real life but it's told so expertly well that you almost feel like your reading an autobiography. I highly recommend you read all her books if you haven't already!

    "✫✫ 3.5 Stars ✫✫"

I'm on the fence about this book. I love this author and have loved all of her other audiobooks but this one was 50/50 for me. There were a lot of things I loved about it. I love the characters, their relationship and how they help each other heel. I like how they came together and all the special things he does for her to make her comfortable. That being said I felt like all of those things would have made this book great but then all the unrealistic things start to happen. Too many coincidences for me. Their paths cross too many times for me to find it believable and that hurt the story for me.

The narration was also 50/50 for me. Ava Erickson was a perfect casting choice! Guy Locke not so much, his style just isn't for me. He is to nasally and I always feel like he's trying to sound like an announcer or something.

    "LOVED IT...EVEN THE SAPPY ENDING"

This is book two in the Devils Wolves Series and it tells the story of that elusive, dog loving, mute, terrifying, elusive Tyler. He is scarred from fire and glass and has embraced the role of monster that the town hung on him. But it's only a role. Inside, the man has a bitter but lonely heart that wants nothing more than someone to see past his scars. When he finds Holly, her innocence recognizes him as only one thing, her fairytale Prince. As she adapts to another kind of cruel world, she waits patiently for her Prince to find her because that's what they do, right?

Carian Cole is a top notch author. Her choice of narrators was perfect. Blew me away.

TWO THUMBS UP, PUMPING THE AIR.

    "Almost!!"

This book started out very promising, but definitely stalled for a long period. I am a huge Carian Cole fan. I am always impressed the way she writes books that are different. May authors have the same storyline with just changing characters. I was bored enough at the end that I almost turned it off; however, the epilogue was something to behold. Actually had tears in my eyes.
