Publisher's Summary

Fifteen-year-old Maisy Mitcham and her twin brother, Duncan, lose their mother to an insane asylum one night in 1960. The twins are sent to their grandmother's country house, Nightingales. Cold and distant, she leaves them to their own devices, to explore and to grow.

That is until the day Duncan doesn't come home from the woods. With their grandmother seeming to have little interest in her grandson's disappearance and the police soon giving up hope, it is left to Maisy to discover the truth. And she will start with Grace Deville. A woman who lives alone in the wood, about whom rumours abound...

    "Not one of her best"

A far fetched story with explicit sexual content. I feel this is not up to Lesley's usual standard. Most disappointing

    "The woman in the woods"

This is the most disappointing book I have read. I usually love Lesley Pearce but found it to be very childish and the narrator didn't do it any favours. It's been returned!

Like a good old fashioned story,or a true crime book. Something not drawn out or a slow storyline.

    "Predictable and poorly written"

Reading the reviews for this I thought I was in for a good read; but unfortunately I was wholly disappointed. Predictable storytelling, lazy use of the English language. Colloquialism and predictable euphemisms run throughout the book.... not worth the accolade of a good read...or a good author. I returned this as it was so bad
