Summary

Officer Noel Carlson isn't out to anyone in small-town Stratton, Pennsylvania, so a relationship is out of the question. That doesn't stop him from wanting one, though.

When a night-shift call brings him face-to-thonged-butt with a hired stripper whose girl-party gig went terribly wrong, Noel takes pity on the guy and lets him go. But he can't get the encounter out of his mind.

Shane has big-time debts to repay, especially to the brother who sacrificed nearly everything for him. His two jobs, in a deli and as a stripper, leave him no time for a social life. But a non-date of hot sex and takeout food with Noel? He can squeeze that in.

The bond they form is stronger than either expected or wanted. Especially since the step Shane's about to take to put his brother - and his soul - back in the black isn't quite legal. And he never calculated just how much his determination to make things right will cost him in the end.

Contains mature themes.

Poor Narration

The poor narration kills any will to continue in what may have been a cute tale. In England Noel is pronounced Nowl, the feminine version being Noelle; this and other poor pronounciations did for me after less than an hour. On top of this is the confusion in dialogue as there is no difference in the voice of the MCs.

Shouldn't really complain as the book was a freebee from the Plus catalogue.

I cried!

Such a sweet story. The two protagonists were knuckleheads who eventually got over themselves before coming together for real. The brother situation is what made me cry. I liked the story, the characters and the performance (ie the narrator). Thank you, A M Arthur.

Wow, overcoming your past

Noel and Shane oh men this is hurt confort as it is meant to be. Overcomibng and admitting being a work in progress is okay. I was happy these men got their hea. But keep the tissues closes for a very emotional storytread.
📚 4,5
The narration was very slow and I don't think it is usual for the narrator. I would hav ebeen happier with a bit more distinction in diction or voicing of both men. II had to listen at 1,2 to get a regular pacing. I don't know if it is a production issue or something else. 3,5/4-

So emotional

Hurt comfort. Had me on the verge of tears. I liked the story. The narration was meh for me.

So many first names for so many characters; it got to be a little much for me at times.

Boring narration

The story might be good but the narrator is very slow that it makes the story extremely hard to listen. Gave up on chapter four.
