Publisher's Summary

After a painful loss, Cady Moreland is coming to Magdalene to start the next chapter of her life. A chapter that began 18 years ago but had a heartbreaking ending. The time in between was full of family and friendship, but Cady could never get the man she fell in love with all those years ago out of her heart.

Coert Yeager has learned to live without the girl who entered his life right when she shouldn't have and exited delivering a crippling blow he never would have suspected. The time in between was full of failing to find what he was missing...and life-altering betrayal.

But when that girl shows up in Magdalene and buys the town's beloved lighthouse, even if Coert wants to avoid her, he can't. A fire in town sparks a different kind of flame that won't be ignored.

As Cady and Coert question the actions of the two young adults they once were thrown into earth-shattering circumstances, can they learn from what came in between and find each other again?

"Weak heroine, Whiney narrator, under developed story."

I wrote a detailed review of the book which unfortunately was lost when I submitted. Therefore, I will significantly summarize (but would appreciate an opportunity to provide more). KA- didn't develop the character or the story well. I felt as though she was just writing the book to close the series. She gives only a little back story into the past experiences with the Lars/Maria group or of Cady's life with the Midletons, never adding enough to improve the story. In addition, little history is shared of the Denver crew or of the Magdalene crew to help the story or to make it worth adding them. In reading it, if you aren't a reader of all KA series then I'd wonder why is she mentioning all the friends but not really adding them to the story. Example, there is a lot of effort to bring them into the story at the wedding but if you have only read this book or a few you are left wondering why mention all of the friends more than Verity/Elijah or Candy/Coert.

Erin Malone whined and/or weakly whispered almost every Cady statement or Cady scene. It sounds like she is either going to cry or is on her death bed in nearly every scene ... even in sensual scenes. Her narration made this reading experience even less enjoyable.

"Love all of Kristen Ashley's box just wish"

I wish some of her books would be a little less into dialogue. And a little less descriptions of little things that really don't need to be in the book. I have read many of her books and enjoy them. This one is no different besides it being too long and dragged out Times.

    "Too much 'whispering'!"

Cady was annoying. such a damsel in distress needing to 'saved and forgiven'. Honestly I just wanted her to get over herself!! Nothing like the sassy females Kristen usually writes.

I loved this book. I had tears in my eyes through most of it. I also liked the narrator. The epilogue was beautiful.

"Sad To Say... I was disappointed!"

I was so eager for this book to come out so that I could dive back into the Magdalene series. The first two books were stellar, the heroines were polished, poised, and broken; the heroes alpha, family-oriented, and keepers. For both books, there were emotional barriers that were broken down or overcome. I don't expect all books in a series to be cast in the same light and I tried with all my might to find some place of recognition for the series in this book, but sadly it wasn't there.

This book was very disjointedness. It feels as if the book started in one vain and then in a mad rush to finish "something" it was taken in a completely different direction. I will listen to this again to see if maybe I missed something, but it seems to me that several of the story threads were just dropped.

The books starts by giving you flashbacks to the time before...but then half-way through the book before ANYTHING major happens and only ONE important item is referenced...it just stops. Next, you get a summation of some major events that happened before..that's it. There was a reason mentioned as to why Cady was willing to be marry another so quickly...and then you hear nothing else about it.

The reunion of this couple was underwhelming and because of the items mentioned above, it felt really disconnected. You never get to experience what tore them apart. Just a quick reunion, a big 'my bad, we good?' on Coert's part, and a 'sure, why not!' from Cady. You don't get to experience the development of their relationship or re-connection, there didn't appear to be any depth to it. Even the locale, the houses in the previous books felt like a part of the story...not so here. This offered very little angst, just some manufactured baby-mama drama.

It hurts to say it...but I didn't like this book at all. My biggest impression overall was one of disconnectedness from the series and from KA writing styles and resolution of stories lines. It felt like a mesh of thrown together pieces that didn't quite work for me. Almost as if KA thought, If I write it, they will buy it. Disappointing all around.
