Summary

Divorce attorney Blair Hansen is convinced that marriage should be based on practicality, not passion. But as her own wedding approaches, she finds herself remembering her law school boyfriend, the only man she's ever loved, and regretting what might have been.

Garrett Lowry is a divorce attorney who's ready to settle down. The problem is that he can't find a woman who suits him nearly as well as the one he loved and lost. He broke her heart by playing the field after their breakup - something he's always regretted. But after months of pining for Blair, Garrett stumbles across her in a freak coincidence, and then destiny keeps throwing them together. He's convinced it's a sign that they should give their love a second chance. Can Garrett convince Blair that a player once isn't a player forever and that happy endings aren't just for dreamers?

2ND CHANCES

I thoroughly enjoyed this story by Denise Grover Swank. It's just a lovely sweet love story between lawyers & ex boyfriend/girlfriend Garrett & Blair, who haven't seen each other in 5 yrs even Garrett walked out on her, but then when he tries & talk to her, she ignores him.
so jump 5 yrs on where Blair can't really trust anyone or especially fall in love but she's going to marry a doctor & that doctor (whose a bit of a Pillock well a big one) is Garrett's cousin & he's going to the wedding as a groomsman, not knowing who he's going to marry as he didn't open his invite. But he got told by his boss that whilst he's up that way for the wedding he can do & cover as someone's divorce brief & guess who's going to be the brief for the wife.
But what a beautiful love story and they have a lot of those heated anguish that you might have Eden you feel like things haven't been resolved.
I do recommend Denise's WEDDING PACK #2

Okay

Second of a series.

Overall, would recommend this book for fans of screwball comedy. The female characters over 30 are all comic book caricatures. The motivations of the characters are often convenient rather than believable. The premise and story are interesting though. Some laughs in you're in the right mood for it.

Practically G-rated. One brief sexy scene I can recall.

The narration is okay.

The Player

Divorce attorney Blair Hansen isn't a sentimental woman. She believes marriage should be based on practicality, not passion. She thinks she found the perfect match with her soon-to-be husband, Dr. Neil Frederick. Back in law school, she was in a relationship with Garret Lowry, who broke her heart. They had a passionate romance back then, now she didn't want to risk getting hurt again. She feels that Neil will be a stable husband who will provide her with the perfect life. Of course things aren't always what they seem.
After a chance meeting, Garrett is brought back into Blair's life and their feelings for each other resurface. Although the practical side of Blair wants to go forward with her wedding to Neil, she really has to fight down her attraction to the gorgeous Garrett.
I enjoyed these characters and especially loved Garrett's Nana. The little old ladies in first 2 books of this series have really captured my heart.

I couldn't finish, Can't stand Blair

I liked the first in this series, The Substitute. I didn't like Blair in it, she had the part of the b*tchy friend. I decided to read her story thinking , in her own story, she would be more likable. She is not. At all. And her current fiancee is such a silly parody of a character , and his mother? Don't get me started, she especially is not a believable character. Why are the other choices for the h's in these stories always someone so horrible of course they wouldn't be considered a threat to the H.
I have to stop, I am a little over 1/2 way and this story is predictable , with lame set ups that are supposed to be comedy and a h that is not appealing in any way. TBH, even Garrett is not a prize to me after his past behavior. The only people I liked in this book was Josh and Melanie, ( in the story for a very short time of course, and I have read their story..and maybe Lily and Noah... but I don't know if I will read their story. This author likes to read parties that blow up like a silly farce and old women that are so crude and obnoxious that are supposed to be funny. I think I am over it.

It’s ok

Just ok. Narrator is good but the story is just so so. It’s like the author was watching movies and taking lines from them and adding.. I’m not for sure how to express it but not really original at all

Oh, my goodness! This story!!!

This was a great book! The ice queen and the supposed player, the twisty turn of events throughout this story was absolutely crazy! I couldn't put it down. I laughed so hard at the unbelievably funny parts, and smiled so big at all of the a-ha and gotcha moments. Like I said at the beginning, it was great!
Listening to the audio book, Shannon McManus was the perfect voice for this story. she brought every single character - male and female - to life. I could feel the irritations, the emotions, and the attitude of each key player in this book. Awesome job. I will definitely add her to my list of narrators to look for.

This would make a great movie!

I loved this story of Garrett and Blaire. There were so many things going on that I could easily watch this as a movie. The narrator did a superb job portraying the characters.
