Summary

The brand-new novel from the Sunday Times best-selling author of The Queen of Wishful Thinking - a gorgeous listen full of love, life and laughter.

Marnie Salt has made so many mistakes in her life that she fears she will never get on the right track. But when she 'meets' an old lady in a baking chatroom and begins confiding in her, little does she know how her life will change.

Arranging to see each other for lunch, Marnie finds discovers that Lilian is every bit as mad and delightful as she'd hoped - and that she owns a whole village in the Yorkshire Dales, which has been passed down through generations. And when Marnie needs a refuge after a crisis, she ups sticks and heads for Wychwell - a temporary measure, so she thinks.

But soon Marnie finds that Wychwell has claimed her as its own, and she is duty bound not to leave. Even if what she has to do makes her as unpopular as a force 12 gale in a confetti factory! But everyone has imperfections, as Marnie comes to realise, and that is not such a bad thing - after all, your flaws are perfect for the heart that is meant to love you.

The Perfectly Imperfect Woman is the heartwarming and hilarious new novel from the queen of feel-good fiction - a novel of family, secrets, love and redemption...and broken hearts mended and made all the stronger for it.

Disappointing

As an avid fan of Milly Johnson, I have all of her books and audios (Colleen Pendergast the narrator is wonderful) I eagerly anticipated this last story. As e er with this author the story was a wonderful interwoven vignettes which thread through the main story like a wonderful tapestry......until the last part. This seemed rushed, incomplete and ‘general’. From going to the personalisation of the characters, we jumped months with just a brief summary of where they were now in life. The main emphasis on the story was the protagonists love of baking cheesecakes yet in the last third or so of the book this was rarely mentioned. I am not sure wether it was disappointing editing, or the end was rushed, but this is the only one of Milly exhaustive library of works that left me feeling disappointed. The last third requires a new re-write

Good start, rushed ending

I enjoyed the book but the last quarter seemed too rushed and frankly left me a little disappointed. I wish some of the side stories were edited for more focus on the main character. Overall a nice summer read, light and fun like I wanted.

WOWED

This is my first MJ Audio book and my oh my it’s one of the most amazing books I’ve heard and I listen to a lot! I couldn’t leave it alone! The story was so engaging with lots of twists and turns, it’s got lots of lol moments and a few tender moments and is beautifully delivered by Coleen Pentegast who brings the characters to life! I will have to go now as other MJ books to listen too!!!

Just amazing, as always

Listening to Milly Johnson's books, are like reconnecting with a long lost friend, if only I could snuggle up on a big comfy sofa with a hot drink, listen to it in one go, but would be so disappointed that I had finished it. It's my own bit of therapy and "me-time" Looking forward to the next!

Not disappointed

I’ve read all Milly Johnson’s books and was looking forward to this one. I was not disappointed. I loved the characters, the twists and turns in the story uncovering secrets and surprises. I couldn’t put it down and was so sad when the book ended. Brilliant book and excellent narration.

Too much!

I don’t write negative reviews normally but I was really disappointed by this book. This poor girl has had absolute every possible terrible thing happen to her - it’s completely unbelievable. (Spoiler alerts so stop reading if you don’t want to know)
Wicked adoptive family, sexual assault, mean turncoat best friend, child sex abuse, forced to give up baby from teenage pregnancy, ghosts in the village, cheated on, the list goes on and on and on. The narrator was a bit sickly sweet for me and not great at varying her voice. I won’t read another Milly Johnson I’m afraid.

Cheesecake and Romance

I enjoyed this story but gave it four stars because the failed romance seemed more in depth than the main event! Worth listdning to though and some laughs between the misfortunes.
